So what are we thinking now?

I have to say I wasnt in favour of taking the little maestro out of the team of late and dont think he was playing THAT badly. The thing I really like about him is even if he isnt playing to his absolute best he works his fucking cunt off. He never hides, he demands the ball and TRIES to do positive things.
I dont think hes a luxury player at all because the MINIMUM he offers is hard work.

Anyway. Im a big fan, ive said a lot in the past hes ALMOST the best player in the world. Well there was a worry that he would always remain that and never become elite. I for one and fast becoming a believer the lad is going to be one of the absolute best.

And hes signed a new 5 year deal.

Play on little man.

I was a fan as soon as we were linked and I've been nothing but a growing a fan since his first game.

He's still so young and can improve so much. That's the most exciting part.

One aspect of his game that I don't think gets enough credit is his work rate defensively when we don't have the ball. The city game last year was a prime example with him flying into tackles.

It adds so much to the team when one of your attacking outlets also puts in a shift defensively.

Some posters sighted his lack of goals as something he needed to work on and boy is he starting to deliver.

Todays game would have been very different if we hadn't taken the lead. We were completely on the back foot for 50 minutes with only one effort on target.

He has become our main man for me and if the choice is him or Lallana I'd take him everyday of the week.

Hopefully Rodgers can find a way to incorporate both on a regular basis but if not Coutinho has to start.

I love the IDEA of Coutinho. Which is why the reality of Coutinho does my head in on many occasions. But thankfully he's (slowly) getting better. The lad has a ridiculous amount of potential, he just needs to use it all.

I can never get all the parts to fit together properly and always get left with a few pieces left over

I would imagine most people are thinking exactly what they were thinking when the last Coutinho thread popped up a few weeks back. When it comes off for him it's fantastic, and he has tremendous potential. If a flair player could execute flawlessly every game though, he'd be worth more than the bottom half of the league put together, so failure comes with the territory.

Oh yeah? Well I was a fan when he was swimming in his dad's bollocks before his dad even said to his mum, "Fancy a lie down?"

And when it comes to failure, Whirly, you're a fucking expert!

He was horrific yesterday. Evading people on the halfway line and that's about it.

Very harsh. Against the meanest defence and arguably most powerful midfield duo in the league, he produces a moment of magic, works his guts out pressurise southampton and consistently carried the ball to win us time and space.

Oncey, great thread. He is my favourite player. His control, movement, balance and ability to create space, make passes is what every player should be looking to do.

I am gutted he never seems to score important goals.

He is the heartbeat of the team, it is him who dictates our play which is why he should play more central and sterling wider.

Absolutely - he's been playing well the last month or so.

In saying that - Southampton got on to him quickly & Wanyama looked like he'd been told to stick close to him - which negated him for large parts of the game.

He kept going and got back into the game - which was great to see and shows how he's improving with age and experiencing.

Oscar for whoosh of the day goes to Mark1975.

I've waited a long time for a player like Coutinho to sign for Liverpool, which is perhaps why I'm willing to forgive the misplaced passes a little more easily than others. I love the skill and flair we have in the team at the moment - if we can get this group to develop as a team we've got every chance of re-establishing ourselves in the top tier.

Also, like the fact that Coutinho's work ethic has been highlighted - I often find myself thinking he should cool it a bit so he doesn't knacker himself. It'd be interesting to see a stat for number of sprints in a game.

I'd like to see him given a rest on Thursday as he's running himself into oblivion, but he's without question my favourite player to watch at the club at the moment, it's like he was born with a football.

Er, care to rephrase that?
