We helped them along by starting with a flat 4-4-2 with two in the middle with Gerrard and Henderson (or at least we ended up that way). Totally got overrun there. Then we got a goal, and controlled the second half when we brought in Lucas (and then Allen for Lucas after the Brazilian got injured) and filled the gap in the middle. I think Rodgers underestimated them last season by using that game to convert Gerrard and at the same time play only 2 CMs; I don't think he'll be making that mistake again.
And of course, facing Cissokho rather than fielding him is always a big plus. He was really popular in the match thread last season:

We should never underestimate any team, not just Villa. But equally, there's a lot to be said for playing full of confidence too. Some would say a touch of arrogance without complacency is how a Champions play in many sports.
