Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

it'll end when they sign another midfielder, which will be very soon.

Ballague works for AS, a well known Madridian mouthpiece. He might know Rafa on a personal level but he's nailed his colours to the mast with that recent article.

He's speaking to his audience. If he was on Sky he would tell a different tale.

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

Final Real bid for Alonso falls short

Real Madrid insist that they have made their final offer for Xabi Alonso, around €8 million short of the minimum fee Liverpool are prepared to accept...

Sources at the Spanish club have revealed that Real had made an initial €24 million bid for Alonso and subsequently increased their offer to €27 million. Real Madrid informed Liverpool of their latest offer by fax and set a deadline of last Thursday for the Premiership club to accept the bid.

Despite this, Liverpool had expected another, higher bid from the Bernabeu - and sources close to negotiations were hopeful that the Anfield club would reduce their initial asking price from €47 million to accept a fee in the region of €35 million - but Real Madrid insist that they will not pay a cent higher than their latest offer.

With Real`s latest bid falling at least €8 million short of the minimum Liverpool would be prepared to accept and, with neither side seemingly willing to compromise further, the situation has reached an impasse and Real`s reported pursuit of alternative central midfield options in the transfer market is genuine.

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

They really believe Liverpool are a bunch of mugs. Fuck off Madrid.
Why all this shit about OTT prices when it comes to Alonso?

Forgot how much they paid for Benzema, Kaka, Ronaldo, and Albiol? Cunts.

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

I am sick of fucking hearing 'Liverpool are being unreasonable' or 'Liverpools unrealistic valuation'.
Excuse fucking me! He's OUR fucking player! We will decide his value! We have NO reason to be fucking reasonable, he's OUR fucking player, CONTRACTED FOR 3 FUCKING YEARS! His value to us is not to be decided by fucking Marca or fucking Ballague or fucking Zidane or the fucking pope!

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

Why even bother reactioning to every single Madrid PR article. Rafa knows what he's doing.

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

Stop with the reactioning already. Wait, I've realised the identity of Blackie. It's George W. Bush!!!!!

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

People give you shit, Blackie, because about 5 posts into a new internet persona, you start getting aggressive and abusive. If you cut that out, no-one would even recognise you. Don't you realise that?

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

I can't help it. I was bum raped by a chimp at Chester Zoo. It gave me issues.

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

Udinese have confirmed they are in negotiations with Real Madrid for the transfer of Gaetano D'Agostino to the Bernabeu.

The 27-year-old midfielder is a target of the big-spending Primera Division giants and the deal could be completed next week.

"I confirm that they (Real) are interested," said Udinese president Giampaolo Pozzo. "My son was set to meet them yesterday but he was unable to so we postponed everything until next week.

"The buy-out clause of the player remains the same, 25million euros, but there's always room to reason.

"There are players they have that could interest us. It's an open negotiation."

The Italian international has been a target of Juventus this summer but Udinese's asking price of 17million euros was not met by the Turin giants.

D'Agostino, who is under contract with the Friuli outfit until June 2014, would love to play at the Bernabeu stadium.

"It's the dream of any player to play at Real Madrid," said D'Agostino to Onda Cero. "They have a spectacular team.

"That is why I'm nervous and excited.

"I thank Real for their interest, I am happy, but there's nothing official just yet."

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

Weird that Real are happy to pay top dollar for forwards, but as soon as you get further back in the team they'd rather spend €20m on a second-rater than €30m on the best in the world.

They do spend a fair bit. Cannavaro - world player of the year, was it not? Sergio Ramos, Walter the wall Samuels, Pepe, Woodgate...were all considered serious talents. Definitely touted as far better talents or were proven as far better talents than Agger, Skirtle, Vidic etc. It's just that it is fucking hard to defend for a team full of prima donnas.

That is also the reason why Xabi would be a terrific signing for them. He knows his limitations and plays a tactically solid game. You can build a team around him. He will be a leader there...

Would, not will.

They also seem more willing to spend big on foreigners than on Spaniards. Given the coming quotas, I don't see why they didn't prioritise Villa and Xabi. But oh well, I'm glad anyway. Hopefully Xabi will soon realise it's not going to happen, and will commit himself to Liverpool.

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

From Elisha Scott on ynwa

"I think Xabi will go, not a certainty, but probable, and for nearer 35 million that the 50 being talked about. Arbeloa will go there too more than likely. Babel and Voronin will be staying as squad members too."

>🙁

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

With all due respect to Elisha, I don't think he's really in a position to know much more than we do on this particular topic. Alonso seems to be pretty reticent even with his own teammates - even Reina and Torres have said he doesn't confide much to them - so I can't see there'd be much more than speculation at Melwood.

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

ES source is gerrard, I doubt even gerrard knows where xabi will be come the new season.

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

I quite agree about Voronin. I'm dreading his 'encouraging' pre-season.

Yes, I imagine Elisha has only logged on to YNWA because he's sick to death of hearing Gerrard talking dreamily about 'Glen said this' and 'Glen likes that' and 'Glen's really funny' etc etc.
