Thats just insane. Welbeck Is a good player, but plays in a team that makes him look better than what he actually is.

When I first saw him I thought he had everything apart from the composure in front of goal but, unfortunately, he's getting better all the time. I'd certainly have him in the squad, he and Rooney look like they're useful together.

Ha, thats just a comical appointment. 1-1,5 years before he has to leave?

I'll make a bold prediction that England now wont get past the group stages.

Can't agree with that. He's the best young all round forward in the game and can play any role. He's 100 million times the footballer that big fucking lump Carroll is.

8 goals in what 30 games on the 2nd best team in the country? That's good for a striker? Chan is spot on. Average finisher, but good all round player.

You used to say that - repeatedly - about Wayne Rooney.

Watch this kid, he's going to be utterly immense.

In a parallel dimension where Everton paid 7.5mil for Carroll, and where he got various EFC tattoos, twatted a couple of home invaders and scored a handful of goals in 2 years, we would all be comfortable with the reasonable assumption that Wellbeck is fucking miles better than him.
Unfortunately, there is no such dimension in space, time or Merseyside.

I'm not disagreeing that Wellbeck is better than Carroll. He definitely is. I just don't think Wellbeck is that good a finisher. With Rooney it was obvious he was going to be a star. I just don't see that same quality in Wellbeck.

Welbeck is a very good player, but it has certainly helped that he has been at United.

Would he have come on quite as well had he been playing for, say, Villa or Bolton?

I think most of the young players at top clubs do have the potential to make it, but its how they develop and whether they are able to fulfil their potential.

He was doing fantastically at Sunderland, in fact I believe its the form that he showed there during last season that prompted Fergie to believe he was ready, rather than sending him back out on loan.

He scored 6 goals in 30 games for Sunderland.

He made plenty of goals too and gave defenders problems every time he played.

I believe it was 6 in 26 anyway and he played a load of those games out wide!

unbelieveable. if the fa had hired a young manager and straight up said we aren't picking anyone over 27, we are building towards the world cup and essentially blooding the new generation in the euros, what would the public have said? they had the perfect chance to build for the future but they can't see further than their nose so this perpetual circle of unachievement is going to go on and on because the fa aren't prepared to shake things up from top to bottom.

Why does anyone give a shit about England seriously. I hope they fail, the squad is full of fucking prima donna arseholes. I'm gutted we have players involved in the joke that is Team England.

Build for the future? Regardless of age, the best candidate (whether Roy or not) and players should be picked, we can't keep on saying future this, future that, there's only a tournament every 2 sodding years.

Someone said on here the other day in regards to this that the youths you allude to in fact play in the best league in the world for some of the best teams in the world, if that doesn't prepare them for a world cup, nothing will
