I think that this is going to be the most exciting year ever in the premier league.
So many teams have great forwards.
Last year there were loads of amazing results, with shitloads of goals scored, and i think given how City won the league we should expect even more of the same this year.

A couple of seasons ago United were winning the league 1-0 again and again boring me to tears, but the last season and a half have been amazing in terms of switcharound in emphasis.
I hope things stay the same this year.

I know this is in the other thread too, but top scorer is going to be a blast this year. Who do you think will get it?

Aguero
Tevez
Balotelli
Dzeko
Van persie
Giroud
Chamakh
Suarez
Borini
Ba
Cisse
Defoe
Rooney
Wellbeck
Hernandez
Jelavic
Adebayor......

Van Persie if he goes to the scummers. Otherwise I agree with Mark. Torres.

Yeah i think Torres is a good shout. Given they have no one else to play up front.

I fancy Aguero though, mancini never drops him.

I think it'll be between Aguero and Shrek.

Dark horse: if (IF) Giroud can transfer last season's form into the Prem he could do well too.

my money's on Aguero. The fact he can score all types of goals, sometimes out of nothing, swings it for me.

Think Suarez will score a lot more this year too; can't see him being as unlucky as last year and with the new set up i think a lot more will be set up for him rather than him having to do everything

Van persie. He is defo going to utd, & he will score for fun unfortunately.

Thankfully we'll still win the league though.

Andy Carroll.

If he and Downing play regularly, I can't see that combo not combining regularly.

Some newspaper tipsters are saying Torres and I'd possibly agree with that.
RvP can get a hatful at United .. as can Rooney (but only one will take the penalties) 😉

1. Rooney
2. Torres
3. RvP (whether at United or Arsenal).

No one fancy the lad Cisse?

He scored a shitload in a short spell at Newcastle last year.

People are going to be so let down by Torres ...

He only started 20 games last season and was pulled off in more than half of those ! With more confidence, more starts and fewer times subbed he'll improve dramatically in the Goals For column. However since he won't be the peno taker I couldn't give him top spot.

While your logic works for me, here's why I don't think it will work:

1) RdM's system - if it doesn't change - still doesn't favor Torres imo.
2) He struggles to stay fit. It's an unlucky part of the game, but I can't see him staying healthy for a full season.
3) His confidence is not where it was for us - if he has any dry patch, the fans will turn on him (50 mill? Wish we had Drogba back! Sturridge should get his minutes etc).

He looked good against Shitty when Chelsea had 11 men. He looks motivated but I still don't trust him to be as good as you do. As we've done it again, I hope I'm right (as a fit and firing Chelsea means we have to hear their fucking fans even more next year) but if I'm not and he has a brilliant year (as he did with us), I'll give a few shekels to some charity in here.

Oo-er matron.

If United buy Van Persie I have a suspicion Rooney might struggle a bit. I'll predict (unwisely) that, if United sign Van P, Rooney will score less than 10 league goals!

That's certainly possible, but I think Ferguson wants to pair them up and (provided that combo goes well) it's Hernandez who'll be playing gooseberry. In that event I fear Van Persil will draw a lot of attention and Rooney will profit from that.

It reminds me of when Ferguson shunted Rooney out to play on the left because he wanted Ronaldo to play up front on his own. If Van Persie plays and Kagawa plays in-behind him Rooney could find himself being played "out of position" again.

I watched most of the England Euro games with a United season ticket-holder who constantly labels Rooney a "confidence player" and says that over the last 3 or 4 years there have been spells where Rooney never looked like scoring and even seemed to lose his appetite.

I suspect Rooney will hit 20+ again BUT if Van P starts up front and starts scoring AND Rooney has a few blanks early on then it's entirely possible that Rooney could find himself playing deeper lying roles and scoring less often.

*Cue Rooney hitting 40 this season*

The fitness point is entirely valid and something I over-looked. However he is by far their #1 striker now and I can't see RdM doing a 'Spain' in the EPL. They will still need a focal point and with players like Hazard to create and draw attention I think he's going to get a hatful.

Time will tell ... I think if I was a betting man, I'd lean more to your take though I hope you're wrong! 🙂 Let's wait and see ... Can't wait for the season to start already.

Top goalscorers 2012/13 :-

1. Suarez
2. Borini
3. Tello

:
99. Rooney
100. RVP
I hope those are predictions for what position each player will finish in the goalscoring charts and not predictions of goals scored........otherwise we're in for a really tough season.
