The Egyptian King

Worthy of the same nickname as the King.
Whatever happens it would be amazing to see him bookend his career with another league title in front of the fans who wanted to flog him to Saudi for 150m.

Yes, Mo is now the equal of the man who was as critical to the city off the pitch as he was on it ... skysports fans ... sweet mary lou ... and we're probably the same age.

Someone needs to tell dreamy that you don't get any money for engagement farming on a site with twenty odd misanthropes and a few terminally thicks.
I thought that he was trying to be creative in saying I told you so without saying I told you so

Surely he surpasses Stevie G as Liverpool's greatest ever prem player. He is up there Henry and Sheerer imho.

@Dreambeliever I still would have taken £150m from the Saudis for him because just like a mansion sometimes you have to sell the family silver to pay the bills

Klopp used to do that too, (have one of the CM's cover for Trent) until he suddenly decided to just let Konate handle it.
It was scary seeing Son completely free in the penalty area a few times during counter attacks. If their attackers were competent, an early cross or two could have easily resulted in goals for them. I'm wondering who was supposed to be on Son. It might be TAA, but then if he was in attack he can't be expected to cover their winger on counters. Did not like seeing that.

I know, I saw that a few times during game myself. Even highlighted it in the match thread.
That's the area every team that's given us trouble has exploited.
Trent slow to return, meaning Gravy or Gomez have to cover for him.

That’s not paying the bills. That’s selling the mansion to buy another mansion. Very different things and I am delighted we didn’t although I think that was always more to do with Salah not entertaining it than us saying no.

It's highly subjective and depends what you value. Salah is a machine that produces goals and assists at a crazy rate. Gerrard had more impact around the park than more player than I've ever seen, playing with much worse players than Salah throughout his career.

My take is if Salah played in Gerrards team (without Gerrard) then there's no chance he'd hit anything close to these numbers. If you stuck Gerrard in this team (even without Salah) then he'd be just as impactful and if not more so. For me that's the difference and why Gerrard takes it.

I think that's fair to an extent but is a nature of their positions as much as anything.

Stick Messi in Hodgson era LFC and I'm not sure how well he would have made out either. Does that make Stevie better than Messi?

I'm with Squiggs on this. Playing in that distinctly average side could have held Stevie back too, but in the end he triumphed over it. Mo Salah on the other hand, brilliant as he's unquestionably been for us, has been playing in a far better side and one tailored to his strengths.

Well no, but Messi would roam the pitch and decide games from anywhere. For much it Salahs career he needed to the situations to have a counter attacking side, a false nine in place and frequently overlapping fullback to cut in. In his later years he's adapted to a more complete player, but you can stick Gerrard and Messi in any side and you'll get world class performances throughout their career. I'm not sure the same rings true of pre-thirties Salah, despite his insane output.

People remember winners more. If Salah delivers a second league title he takes top spot imo.

Disagree. What people do or don't remember is entirely incidental IMO and, if we win a second title, it will be down to far more than any one player's efforts.
What is it now? He’s responsible for 65% of our goals this season? It’s as close to Suarez’s effort as you can get or any Gerrard inspired seasons. The main difference would be we actually win the league.

...due to the efforts of many others as well as him. I love Salah too but IMO you're looking at him in isolation and that doesn't make sense.

whilst Salah makes my all time XI he isn’t top two.

Even if you want to use achievements as a barometer he’s not close to the King. Six English league championships, the FA Cup, four League Cups, three European Cups, and one European Super Cup.

We were the Man City of the 10’s or the Utd of the 90’s when Kenny won everything.
