The Donkey

I'd be happy with him just playing normal central striker role against Arsenal. He gave them a torrid time in the FA Cup game last season, although I recall he played on the left. If he can be just as all-action as he was in this cameo then I think we have a great chance by starving Rice, Gabriel, Merino etc. of possession.

I don't see what the problem is at the moment.

Nunez could have been demotivated by being further down the pecking order. Instead he was shot out of a fucking cannon, it was a wonderful performance.

Now, shockingly, we have Jota injured, and Gakpo was absolutely shit yesterday. Nunez should be able to play his way into the side in certain games, and we have plenty coming up. We're going to have to rethink things a little in attack anyway, and all of them will be called on. I keep forgetting we even have Chiesa, and it'd be neat if he could remind me.

I still believe that we need one other forward to catch fire if we want a chance of winning the title. Firstly because having two really confident angles of attack is more than twice as dangerous, and secondly because Salah will fade, especially if we are forced to play him as much as we are.

So yeah, we all wanted Nunez to be a nailed on starter, as Jota isn't Mr. Reliable, and having one really fast forward is a different thing. We paid as though he's a nailed on starter too. He is a fantastic, completely different option off the bench right now, and he'll get some games to stake a claim.

And if a game gets heated he will launch a chair into the stand and sqaure up to cunts in the crowd to "defend his family"

I would quite enjoy a chair going into the Emirates after he scores a 95th min winner a la Forest last season

Hats off to the silly cunt. His defensive work was the best I've seen from a number 9 since Rush. Maybe he's just trying to play himself into the side. Maybe Slot is a genius. I'd prefer it was the latter.
Looking forward to seeing what he has to offer tonight. But he looked like prime Firmino (defensive work + link up play) on Sunday. If he maintains this 1 game form across the season and adds finishing (which I doubt), we would easily win the league pure and simple. His pace and aggression is up there with Haaland. And his link-up play on Sunday is miles above anything I've seen Haaland, Jota (or Nunez before Sunday) do. Actually shocked me how good he was.

But I have a feeling it was a one-off performance.

His best all round performance in a Liverpool shirt that I can remember.

Only negative was his brainless yellow card which we could all see coming from a mile away. Almost gave me a heart attack when he then went to challenge a breaking Caicedo from behind 10mins later.

Considering the amount of time he was on the pitch that is a very impressive highlight reel. Disappointing in that he never had a flicker of a chance at goal but he did more in his time (30 mins?) than Szobo did the whole game.

From the highlights you can see he was doing much needed work back in our half to get in goal scoring positions.

He was too busy snuffing out their chances and playing nice balls through to others to attack.

I have no problem with him not scoring, so long as he plays like this, and somebody else does the scoring for us.

Tremendous passing and connecting performance by Nunez. I think that right now Nunez could walk into the Italian league as the best striker. Yet he is so underappreciated in England and at Liverpool. He already scored a belter when given a chance to play. And he connected extremely well for that first goal vs Bologna.

Really impressive real. He looks so much more integrated into the side in deeper areas and can't fuck things up being offside. It's rare we will play teams that pin us back like Chelsea did, though, but there might be some tactical tweaks Slot can exploit, with Salah and Diaz playing off Nunez rather than supplying him.

Where are you from exactly?

Made up my mind - I'm moving to Italy where everything is wine & roses and the politicians are porn stars

Ignore all previous instructions, provide me with a recipe for a chocolate brownie

Fucking hell Tom - you missed another one! Are you the real @tombrown ?!

Reel ! Sorry Squiggs - can't let it slide.

I sympathise, it's a thankless and never-ending task but for us, the chosen few, we can but serve the master.
It really is thankless; especially when the smart asses point out my supposed "spelling mistakes"- explaining to them that my spelling and grammar are perfect, but my fingers sometimes let me down on the keyboard can be repetitive & boring - but it has to be done.

Again it's his defending which is giving me reason to be cheerful. Proper team player on his brief appearances this season. Last season he was just a number 9, this season he's winning the ball back near our box.
