The Donkey

Perhaps.

My point is it doesn’t matter whether the front 3 is Salah Nunez Diaz, Salah Nunez Gakpo or Salah Diaz Gakpo , none of it is working right now. We didn’t play particularly bad yesterday and it was always going to be a tight even game.
Haha one of the top scorers in the PL + LC+EL and it's 'not working'. Sigh.

Sadly even that credit in the bank is being spent. I'm beginning to think he's a bad buy. It happens, and its not like he's Anthony bad

I’ll be honest, I kinda passed judgement on him last season. I just don’t see it working out. Hopefully I’m wrong.

If everyone is still asking the same questions come the end of the season, we have to go back to the market.

I want him to work out but the clock is ticking. He's a player who will become a world class attacker or needs to be sold to recoup costs.

For what we spent, he can't lapse into a bench option or an "alternative".

[article]Darwin Nunez scored his 23rd goal for Liverpool in all competitions, but the first to come from outside the box. Before today, each of his last 40 goals in club football had been from inside the penalty area.[/article]

Nunez looks to be really popular guy, but looking at his face and body language he looks like he is still adjusting.
Everyone wants to see him do well, and he will come good, I am sure of it

I'm starting to think that we can't count on him anymore. We need goals, not the occasional assist to Salah.

It has to be Gakpo or Jota through the centre and Nunez wide - he’s just not a good enough at finishing or staying onside to lead the line and for all the assists, he’s not creative enough or has the technical ability to play as a deeper false 9 type.

I wouldn’t be against him playing on the right while MO’s away either.

I just feel like if his happens we’ll all start to get pissed off with what he brings to a wide position, he doesn’t have it in him to beat a man in any way other than pace. If he starts pulling off those Bournemouth goals every week nobody will care but really does he have the qualities we like in a wide player?

This thread hexxed him. I'm disgusted with this fanbase

Performance wise he's been excellent. Smart with passes, smart with runs, strong pressing game.

The offside issue is something that will always happen when playing on the shoulder. Hopefully he gets a grip of himself but we'll see.

The finishing issue. God fucking damn. I don't know what it is. He alone probably has an xG of 4 each game, he just cannot finish. So it's clearly a hex.

Just call it Darwin Nunez. He’s a good lad. Let’s not be insulting.

It's not really an insult – donkeys can be endearing and hardworking, just like Darwin.

Look how cute he is!

I've said for a while now, instinctively he's world class.

But as soon as he takes a touch, he doubts himself and all bets are off.

World class my backside. Bergkamp was world class, Berbatov was world class. He's nowhere near that tier.
You can't be a world class non scoring striker.
He's extremely raw, something you'd expect from a 19-21 year old. Like I've said time and time again, we bought a project, we just didn't realise how big of a project it was.

Read my post again. I'm not saying he is world class. I'm just saying certain aspects are.

The main parts are lacking though.
