The Burnley match thread (Frogfish Free)

In the alternate world where fabs and milner were available for selection I'd have started with them next to Elliot. Henderson and Keita aren't in great form but could probs come on after 75 to freshen things up.

It's obvious that I'm a bit harsh on Hendo and I know that he wasn't playing in his natural position, but even if Hendo's stats looked better, he did get done a few times during the game. Especially before their disallowed goal, which was bordering on embarrassing for a defensive midfielder. Yeah, great distribution but that little highlight clip from MOTD wasn't exactly Alonso esque. It's the bare minimum imo.

Believe, I know hendo wasn't good yesterday, but I'm more forgiving of him as he motivates others, as well as the fact he's coming back from injury.

I want keita to be a success. I want him to look half the player he was at Leipzig. But he's failing at that miserably. He seems to be getting praised for putting in a 80 minutes performance where he did nothing. Kostas was the only one on that left side that looked good. Mane (goal aside) was shite at passing and struggled to take on a man. He had a few chances that he spurred. Keita was similar. Did fuck all and broke down attacks.

Joe fucking Allen had more impact on us than naby keita

It's fucked up but you're right Allen did actually do more than Keita.

And for me that's the fucking problem. Joe Allen rarely got half the praise for a good game than keita does just for turning up at the stadium.

People claim bias to criticise but it's not.

And I'd never trust a media outlets ratings in my life.

Someone needs to do a poll. I mean Danny Murphy was twice the player Keita is but everyone thinks he was shit.
Murphy had his moments. I remember him as a decent player, but I never thought he was the right calibre player for LFC.
I mean, we replaced him with Alonso...

Henderson isn't great but has grown into captaincy in a way I'd never have predicted, because he's got a set of balls. Maybe Keita should be given ten years too. I really fucking doubt it will make any difference. I don't fall apart when I see his name on the team sheet, I realise he offers something and he's not completely useless, but anyone saying he hasn't been a letdown is deluding themselves.

That's completely fair. We need him this season for the squad as we're so short, he's never going to be the player we were sold on from Leipzig, but if he can turn in some consistent 7/10 performances like yesterday, that'll do.

Keita just needs to do more. I think everyone agrees about that. We need assists and goals from him. That's why we bought him.

Not surprised by the thread title given who started it, but more surprised that men in their 30s and upwards behave like kids. But thats the mental capacity of said poster.
Its a fucking football forum.
Nobody thinks Roscos a bigger bell than I do, but as far as I'm aware the only reason Froggie can't see this thread is because he's put Rosco on ignore, that's on him. Rosco has less power than Salah right foot these days.

He needs to offer consistency at the very least. Last week i was praising him, this week he's first out the door. He's one of the most frustrating players I've ever seen for us

That's true, I know that he still isn't there yet, but saying that Hendo had a great game and highlighting his performance on MOTD was a bit too much. Trent did a whole lot better. Btw, why didn't Milner play?

Yea. I only caught the end of Liverpool on motd and found them focusing on Henderson a bit odd.

Maybe the Football forum can have Rosco on ignore then..

What I love about that is that there was always a positive end result : retaining possession and a lay-off, a successful pass, drawing a foul or winning a corner. I don't think there was a single mislaid pass - I might have missed one, but I don't think so.

Are they only giving scores for the attacking contriburion? I’m guessing those that scored Keita high was because of the defensive side.
Also Hendo stats should be good - a bit like a CBs - because a lot were to and between the defenders whilst Elliott's and Keita's were further forward with higher risk. Looking at that clip Modo posted Murphy shows there average starting position .. Hendo was 10 yds deeper than the other two.

Naby is at least now lasting over 80 minutes which is an improvement on previously I presume. Outside of Hendo and Fabinho, I don’t see any obvious starters against the Chavs.
Would start Naby ahead of anyone elss and just give him a run till he inevitably gets injured.

I can't believe some people are still keeping faith with Keita. I gave up on him long ago.

You're right (though it was petty to add that to the title and childish to think I couldn't see it, though more likely he knew I could anyway) but I spotted it immediately after I posted in the pre-match and saw no-one there, but the second half was about to start. I don't post in the match thread until HT, and then only a single comment if any, but always after the match. So it actually had zero effect on me though it did give me a giggle 😀

I get that, but he has a defensive responsibility as well.

And yet created more than keita

Thought Henderson did alright to be honest. Plus he brings a huge amount of organisation and keeps all the others on their toes. Fabinho for Keita would be my preference for Chelsea. Milners powers have been on the wane for quite a while; I still see him putting in really good distances in his workload, but I can’t even remember the last time I thought “good pass” or “excellent play” when watching him. Surprised Jones hasn’t bumped ahead of him in the pecking order - can only assume he isnt showing Jurgen what he wants to see day to day in training. The Athletic article on Davies seems to highlight the importance of this (ie he didn’t show enough, and then got injured, so didn’t make an appearance. Meanwhile Origi is consistently very good in training and so continues to get first team chances over the years).
