"Ryan, look over here mate!"

Marc Overmars, technical director of Ajax Amsterdam has today revealed that Liverpool scouts have been regulars at the Amsterdam Arena this Season.

His comments arrives as rumours sending Eriksen to Liverpool has gathered even more pace.

What's even more great about this, Ryan, is that the name Viktor Fischer will be all over our scouts notebooks too.

Overmars: Reds interested in Eriksen
March 29, 2013

Liverpool are weighing up a move to sign Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen this summer after Ajax technical director Marc Overmars confirmed that the Reds had been scouting him regularly.

Eriksen, 21, confirmed last week that he was uncertain about his long-term future at the Amsterdam Arena, and is understood to be keen to play in England. Indeed, the Denmark international, who is considered one of the brightest talents in Europe, has only one more season to run on his contract and Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is expected to make a move for around £17 million as he bids to bolster his squad for next season.

“We have the list of scouts of foreign clubs who have been here recently, and Liverpool have been a regular visitor,” Overmars told the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf. "We want him to stay here for at least two more years, but the day he leaves us, he will be ready to play for the very best. He's a player even the biggest clubs in the world could do with having in their squad."

Eriksen has scored seven goals and provided nine assists in 26 league outings and is likely to attract offers from several of Europe’s leading clubs this summer, though Liverpool have shortlisted alternative targets if the deal falls through.

Newcastle’s Hatem Ben Arfa and Shakhtar Donetsk’s Armenia international midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan are also options for Rodgers, while the Liverpool manager has stated that he wants to make “three or four” signings before the start of next season.

Seems like FSG will be pushing the boat out again this summer: all the indications are that we'll sign at least 2 big players, possibly Eriksen and Dede, and Rodgers is said to want 3 or 4 newcomers in total.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if they spend another £20m or so, I really didn't think they would after the January signings. They're proving to be fairly generous spenders after all.

If we sign Eriksen and Dede, as well as two other cheaper squad players, one CB and one DM, it would have been a summer, assuming Dede is any good.

Ideally we'll be signing Alonso though.

Probably not. Alderweireld, Williams, Bruno Martins, Dede and Lovren.
Thats who we've been linked with in recent weeks.

Lovren is probably the best one.

No Mystic, we need a fucking great CB for it to be a good summer. That is a major weak point.

I agree, my post was based on the assumption that Dede is a very good CB. Howedes would be nice, shame he's just signed a new contract.

Oh my god. Stop littering the Eriksen thread with fucking DEFENDERS

If KHL hadn't annoyed the fuck out of everyone by posting incessantly about him, this might be something everyone should be getting very excited about. He's a pretty good player.

That Okore lad also looks pretty good actually.

Bit worrying though about how he would be played. He's still a bit lightweight to play in a midfield two and if he's playing the hole position, then that kinda undoes Rodgers idea that Suarez would play that role (or Coutinho).

Dunno! His corners seem to beat the first man and land in around the danger area, it might be too much for our guys to take in and they would have to be reprogrammed. Otherwise he looks quite Gerrardesque in positioning, passing and shooting, does he defend and do the bone-crunching tackling aswell, if so, then he would be well worth Joe Allen money.

He wont be played in a midfield two imo.
Not concerned about being lightweight as he's got pace, balance and extraordinary technique and first touch.
He'll adapt no problem.
I think he'd balance out our midfield and link up excellent with the attack.
We'll probably see more of a 4-3-3 next year.

I agree that he has fantastic attributes but the lightweight(ness?) does worry me, we have been bullied out of 12 or 18 points and a cup or 2 this year and while I'm loving the football we do need tougher midfield who can keep the troglodytes from Stoke and the like away from our fanny defense

We need a wanyama or diame A LOT more than we need Eriksen. We're lightweight as it is. Its not like we are lacking in creativity. The money we would have to spend to land eriksen could buy us that steel and and strong CB.

You could argue that Sahin had the same attributes, having good technique doesn't always see you get away with it. You still have to have the industry to match, particularly in a midfield two. He looks pretty lightweight at times and gets bustled off the ball too easily, even on those videos, he loses possession a few times from challenges that aren't particularly robust.

As for 433, we've played that more often than not this season, the point I was making is that Rodgers has said for a while he sees Suarez as the playmaker, and he's tried to put him in behind Sturridge a few times this season and also tried it with Coutinho coming inside too. Unless the longerm philosophy is Suarez up top with Eriksen behind, which leaves question marks again over Sturridge. His preferred wide role is left (though he'd rather be central) and we now have Countinho to add to the mix. Personally I think it points to Eriksen playing in the middle of the park, and that's where I have my doubts, given we're already incredibly lightweight there and we already have an abundance of players there, one of whom Rodgers has already punted £15m on.

Lightweight. Like Silva ? Mata ? Walcott ? Wilshere ? Nasri ? Defoe ? even Countinho ?

Steel at the back and creativity from mid to front SVP.

None of those players play in a midfield 2

You need a player who can actually throw in a tackle
