'That Divok Banner'

Interesting?! Hahahahaha

You've got to be fucking joking. Have you actually read what the dopey cunt has been saying in this thread?

He's essentially said that white people have no clue what racism is, and shouldn't talk about it, but HE can, because he married someone who isn't white, and now he understands white privilege

He's *actually* used the words 'white fragility' and not meant it ironically.

There's been very few people who deserves mockery and disdain more. He's like a woke Twitter parody account, except not a parody.

Listen, Del has been here a long time ... and what he's talking about is basically things like Ryan's comment on the tennis thread ... Is his posting style on this subject sometimes grating? Yah, but if you put aside the tone that comes off (whether intentional or not), there are points there to digest.

I think all of us have blind spots in how we approach these things (which is my point) - it's just the reality. I don't think it's intentional most of the time. For example, I wouldn't have found the big cock thing racist but listening to Mo's (TAW) comments, I better understand why it could be viewed as such. Does that mean I'm racist? Nah, I hate everyone equally, some I'm exempt.

I also get the frustration you're discussing as we live in a world now where this is brought up constantly, whether real or not (overall, not focusing on racism vs blacks), but I think when discussed respectfully (as many have in this thread), it is interesting and makes me ask questions.

Ohhhh hahaha...

I'm happy with my size...

Probably why I don't find the poster offensive. I assume the only people offended by the banner are those who are self-conscious about their tiny white cocks.

Nah. Probably not... something deeper related to saving the world. 100% 😀😀

I already feel sorry for the dickhead with the banner coz he's gonna get banned from Anfield, and if he's the type that goes to Genk then it's clearly his passion.

I don't think he's racist, he's just been a bit stupid.

Agreed. So I think this is the right approach :

His only chance is to play the coming out card, and then argue that he was attracted to divock.

Ya I would imagine European away travelling fans are fans that lives revolve around the club a huge amount. Losing that could be detrimental and won’t educate shit.

I think its more to do with the ORIGINAL meaning behind blacks with huge cocks is the problem. But to me personally i think its more to do with his name. When i first saw his name i thought it said Divcock lol.

Yeah, now that's a hate crime. Along with boiled cabbage and god knows what else.

She prefers sephardic food. She has taste buds.

Yah - my family got to Turkey/Greece/Rhodes area post Inquisition ... so most of the food I grew up with is influenced by that region's and it's great ... the stuff from the Mizrachim & other groups in (or near) the region (Yemenites, Persians, Afghanis, Ethiopians etc) is top notch too ...
I hope you reported the crime to your nearest authorities ... Eating gefilte fish (though it most likely came from albondigas de pechcado) is criminal.

I just wish people like you, whose posting is interesting - and a times challenging* - would understand this on other levels ... The reason I say that is I find so many people who take this stance actively - a famous example is LeBron James, who 'slipped' and said something that are extremely offensive to another minority group and 'pretended' it's not that offensive with a meaningless apology ** (when if something similar had been said about blacks, his attitude would have been extremely different).

* I think some of what you say is misguided, or should I say I don't agree with how you phrase it, but otherwise, a lot of it 'works' for me
** Not talking about China obviously - that is entirely money driven.

I'm not sure I understand the point you're making. What 'stance' do you mean? And on which other levels should I understand this? I'm not being obtuse - I'm just not sure what you're getting at.

And I do appreciate how I'm coming across, by the way. I daresay I could find more palatable ways of saying things. But I'm not trying to win a popularity contest and I haven't got the time or inclination to massage over-inflated egos.

I find far many people who go after these issues, be it those who are from the group or not, absolutely unable to understand the same exact issue when facing other minority groups and refusing to use the exact same logic (hence my LeBron comment - he shared a comment from a rap song that is basically anti-semitic (Jews, money etc) and really didn't show any understanding why that would be offensive etc).

What was the original meaning?

Del has a good point. It's hard to really speak eloquently about racism as a white person, since you may not have really experienced it day in day out - and as a result the common refrain is to deny, minimize, negate and mock. And even introduce ideas such as reverse racism (not really a societal problem)

Certainly, you can talk about it academically, and if you are a decent human, you could probably empathize. But of course, empathy is mostly reserved for people we idenitfy with only, which makes it harder. But again, I'm talking as someone blanco.

White fragility is what Brendan may be showing at the min, funnily enough. Heaven forbid you point out things like this!

Marrying someone who isn't white (#metoo) does give you some limited insights for sure, as I've experienced racist comments as a couple - as well as comments towards my kids from whitey mcwhitersons in spaces that have limited diversity. But it just gives me glimpses. It's one of the reasons why the white nationalism over here at the min is somewhat bothersome.

Being Irish in england in the late 80's and early 90's was interesting too. Did I ever tell you about the time I was asked if I was a terrorist in a job interview for a telemarketing interview in Brighton? No, really 🙂

One final story - a friend of mine works in corporate America - does diversity and inclusion work - implicit bias traing and the like. And she is white. And they prefer to hire her, and 80% of the work goes to white people. Because they prefer to confide in her, and feel more comfortable doing so with their secrets. So she then has to subcontract to women of color, to get them in. So essentially, a company uses implicit bias in hiring someone to train their staff on ..... implicit bias 🙂

You couldn't make that stuff up

@Rosco @Woland It doesn't really matter if Divock felt offended by it, and it really isn't complicated. The person making the banner/meme not being racist isn't relevant either, nor is whether or not you can call this racism.

As I've said in previous threads about this, the real victims in this sort of thing are the black dudes who don't have big cocks. Give yourself a minute to imagine what that must be like. If you take this perspective, which I'd imagine is a lot easier to empathise with for white dudes, it becomes obvious that it's not cool and shouldn't be done.

Not that I have any desire to join this debate...but how, in any sense of the word, would that be considered racist?

[bcolor=#fdfbf8]Got it from a friend as a friday [/bcolor]
afternoon kick. It made me smile and lifted the mood. good beat fun characters.

But then again isn't this stereotyping at its most perverse. The clothes, shoes, the moves. Should we share it and smile of it.

PS: I don't find it racistic, but I am a fat white guy so I don't know.

RACIST!

Anyways, I know it's not cool and shouldn't be done, my point I suppose is just about nuance, and how there isn't much of it knocking about anymore. I mean if we lived in a world were people weren't literally killing each other because of their race this would be seen as just a bit crude. But we're not, so it isn't.

Yeah, it wasn't great use of tagging. I've agreed with a number of your posts in this thread.

I'm not personally offended, no. But I can see why people would be. And denouncing somebody's offence to a damaging racial stereotype as virtue signalling or 'PC gone mad' (which isn't to say that those things don't exist) basically dismisses their experience and prevents any progress being made.

Who is offended ?

I always thought the BBC thing was in recent years , if , anything , suggestive that white people have smaller dicks
