Tevez (this years Barry thread?)

I personally think tevez will either stay at manu or come to us, I don't think anyone else comes into it.
tevez is settled in the area and doesn't want to move (strike off chelsea/real madrid/inter) tevez will want to play CL football (strike off man city) that leaves liverpool.

the book makers have actually made him favorite to join us with better odds than even him staying at manu

i bet we could strike a deal of half now and the other half over the next 2 years. so for 12 million yes please

Disagree. On the contrary, it looks to me like neither he nor Joorabchian wants to stick with ManUre now, even if they DO stick to the deal they signed to start with.

Agree JJ. The only way i can see Manu signing Tevev now is if they outbid everyone else by a margin. Unlikely in the extreme.

Rafa's said today that we may well break our transfer record this summer.

Ha.

As long as he doesn't do it on Downing, then i'm all for it.

Tevez or Silva?

Putting the shits up the Tevez bidders. While everyone bids stupidly over Tevez. Rafa sign's Aguero for 25M GBP. 😉

get in.

In the last two summers, the Liverpool boss has spent £20million-plus on first Fernando Torres and then Robbie Keane.

And although Benitez is believed to have been given only £20million by the club's American owners for a transfer spree - any more will have to come from sales - the Spaniard is planning purchases at both ends of the financial scale.

Linked again with Carlos Tevez this week - a move that has been talked about at Anfield now for some while - the club say they have not made a bid to the players' third party owners.

But Benitez is known to be keen to pair Tevez again with his compatriot Javier Mascherano, the Argentina stars joining West Ham together back in August 2006.

However, he said: "We may well break our transfer record, but certainly not Manchester United's. But it does not matter about the prices, it is doing the right thing and finding the right players."

The reference to ManUre is about a clear a signal as there could be that he is after Tevez - unless it's some kind of really elaborate smokescreen for a different player altogether.

He just can't help himself.

This is great news.

That means other than Barry/Downing we are going to sign someone really good.
Probably Tevez or Silva. Maybe Eto'o or Aguero?

Who knows?

[/quote]I think these people are unaware of what we all know. There is around £15m up his sleeve from last years transfer chest, and he will have ensured that is on top of any funds for this year, then plus sales

I've been on holiday, so could someone condense this into about 4/5 succinct sentences?

You have more holidays than Judith fucking Chalmers.

Whilst I think Tevez would be a good signing, I'd be uneasy if we spent more than £20m for him.

If we're going to break our transfer record, I would expect someone a bit more exciting.

What legs !

I don't know how if this info is 100% correct, but a manc mate told me the EU have confirmed they're looking into tevez working contract. That Kia won't be able to demand that sum of money he wants. Wheter or not thats good news for us or the mancs remains to be seen.

As I said I don't know if it's 100% accurate. But its interesting nonetheless. He also said the manc fans regard us as favourites for his signature.

I would doubt it's authenticity.

There was an article at the end of last week, in a particular rag, that suggested under European Law Tevez could simply walk away from his contract with MSI.

It was based on a single MEP's opinion. That MEP sold fruit and veg before he got elected, so I'd question his legal knowledge.

I'd be amazed if the Commission were so bothered by something so trivial to look into it immediately. And even then they can't cancel a contract anyway.

It is interesting how Utd do seem to want to exploit all these legal loop holes, rather than just pay the money. It says everything about their club, and their values.

For what it's worth the MEP is on the EU Sports Intergroup, so maybe they'll have a look into the situation with a view to stopping this kind of thing in the future. (Third party ownership)

But members of the European Parliament have virtually no power in the grand scheme of things so unless the Commission decided to do something, nothing will happen.

This has all come about from one article from The Rag on friday.

I'd be surprised if United did go down that route, Tevez has made it pretty clear he won't be back either way hasn't he ?

Yeah, I would have thought sn to Ross, good point. Either way I think UEFA and the EU wants to set a presendence about 3rd party involvment. The kind of deal Msi and kia have had, wont be legal. That may happen sooner rather than later.
