That front 4 would never have it held against them for not trying. I suspect that it wouldn't be too shabby on the goal scoring front either.

Absolutely. One of my concerns, however, is that Kuyt and Tevez are alike in many ways, and I don't really like really similar players in the same team, especially in those positions.

Oh well.
Ah but think of the game time he would get when Kuyt is injured ............. *blinks*

With a better RB next seasona aswell. I don't think the "winger" issue is so important.

Rooney has played a fair bit on the left and been very effictive there with Evra flying forward.
I think Insua is good enough to play behind Tevez and form a very good partnership.

So if Kuyt and Tevez have two offensive attacking minded full backs behind them, I'm not to concerned that they're a bit similar.

Again, it's amazing, on this solitary matter, everyone seems to know how Benitez would treat him, playing him most matches and keeping him happy. Bizarre. Everywhere else Benitez is a capricious stubborn manager who can't be relied on in such a way.

Well, we'd have to at least place some trust in the manager that if he spent over£20m on a player, he would have some clue about where he wanted to play him, and also trust him enough to give him plenty of games.

*ahem*
ha ha
ha ha, that shows him - now we can really get on with saying confidently how many games Tevez will get! ha ha!

[This was a rephrasing of the above post for the hard of thinking.]

if we got tevez and the mancs got ribery, who has a better front four?

ronaldo
rooney
berbatov
ribery

torres
gerrard
tevez
kuyt

I don't like Tevez out wide left in that 433 thing at all. There, I've said it.

In my opinion, and probably in his, he's a striker, not a winger. Kuyt does it cos he does anything Rafa says. The formation is not 3x striker upfront of 3x midfielders, it's actually 3x midfielders, two 'wing-forwards' and a striker. Making strikers into wingers is a bad idea.

I think Rafa would have a much easier job convincing Tevez to play every week in a 442 with his little pebbles, than he would converting him into a left wing-forward. I think he's played out there for the scum just to get a game, not out of choice.

Would we like to play Torres as left wing-forward? Would he like it?
He naturally drifts out there much of the time because it's what he did at Atleti

ronaldo will be there next season, definately and there is a good chance they'll get ribery, well, as much chance as we have of getting tevez.

Eh ? So have they ... and the rest. It all comes down as to how they gel together. Berbatov is the fly in the ointment at the moment and I know Manc supporters would rather he left than Tevez.

have berbatov got double figures in the league before? genuine question?
this season for munich ribery has 9 league goals.

An ingenious, and generous, way of defending my argument. Many thanks!

Well, one would have to assume that it would totally fucking ridiculous if he managed to do *exactly* the same thing two years on the bounce.

I really wish rafa would come clean about why he bombed out keane, was it because he missed sitters? well crouch went 19 games without scoring so it can't be that. tracking back? works hard, so nope. threatened to break up the torres/gerrard axis? why buy him in the first place?

Would Crouch have attempted a stupid flash backheel when 1-0 up away from home, with a chance to kill the game? No.

Ribery had 10 goals in 45 appearances last season and 12 in 35 this (with one match at home to Stuttgart to go).

Berbatov has 14 goals in 41 appearances for United this season. For Spurs he had 23 in 49 and then 23 in 52.

Why would Silva be playing in a 4-4-2?

I'd rather we get Silva for the left and get a decent (cheapish) backup for Torres. Possibly Bent, who seems to be available and I don't think will cost an awful lot.

Depending on sales then, we should have enough left to get a quality RB (none spring to mind) and another CM (Barry).

OK here's league goals :

Ribery had 11 goals in 28 appearances last season and 7 in 19 this (with one match at home to Stuttgart to go).

Berbatov has 9 goals in 30 appearances for United this season. For Spurs he had 12 in 33 and then 15 in 36.

okay fair enough, but I will add if manu bought ribery to replace tevez they would be replacing a player capable of double figures in the league for another, we on the other hand would be aquiring a player capable of double figures in the league to add to kuyt gerrard and torres.

I dont think for one moment that Tevez will come because

1) The Mancs will not allow it. They will rather spit out the cash and not play him (which they can afford) than to have us buy him.
2) We cannot afford a 20+ million player.
How have you come to these daft conclusions? Facts please.
Fact 1, Fergie refused to let Heinze come to us. Fergie might just spite us and up the offer that Tevez's owner can't refuse.

Fact 2, we are skint remember?

How are we skint though?

And Fergie aint going to sign a player for over 25million to bench him to spite us.
Plus we won't be buying him off Utd, it would be the same as the Mascherano deal.

manu have first refusal I'm pretty sure if they offer the money tevez will stay at manu, so whilst tevez isn't technically a manu player the ball is in manu's court.

So Tevez hasn't got a say in all this? He can refuse any proposal from Utd, and why give the impression of leaving and the whole kabackle, if he thought there was a chance he'd stay.

Fergie bought Berbetov and still benched him a lot of the time.

The Mancs actually have a a contract with Kia (and he said so) to buy him for a certain sum. They will only not have Tevez if they don't meet that contract sum. So if Fergie finds out that we are actually interested, he will make sure the board buys Tevez.

Disagree. On the contrary, it looks to me like neither he nor Joorabchian wants to stick with ManUre now, even if they DO stick to the deal they signed to start with.

I've been on holiday, so could someone condense this into about 4/5 succinct sentences?

Is it essentially "We might be buying him, we might not, soandso says we are, nobody actually believes them, he will sign, oh know he won't, he's behind you etc etc?"

It's a bit of an insult to Tevez that Utd agreed a deal and a price a couple of years ago, and now they are decreasing that valuation.

reports from other papers say our not-so-favourite paper is saying that Spurs have lodged an £18m bid for Tevez, but been "blown out of the water" by a meet the asking price bid by Liverpool of £25m and £160k a week over three years a £50m deal.

Hahaha, if true Rafa really does want to hump Slur Alex.

160k a week? where do they come up with this shite?
