I'm not unhappy that Torres didn't play. There was no point in risking him in a game of no importance. He's injured enough as it is.
I'm glad he didn't play, that's not my point.

I'm pointing out the fact Roy somehow blames them for not giving us the chance to attack. Its fucking scary.

Not if a doctor is hitting their knee with a hammer designed for the purpose Neil like a big chicken leg banging on the table of a hungry viking with a broken drumkit.
in all seriousness though, if nesv fuck roy off and the next guy is as bad (ha ha its possible) nesv would have backed themselves into a corner and anfield will become a revolving door of managers. they'll wait till the summer. 5 months of turdig fucking shite will fly by, it will be summer before you know it.
Unlike most people on here, NESV realise where the biggest problem is in the club. The main reason we were shit last season is the same as the reason we're shit this season, the squad. Since Rafa built that squad he had to go.

NESV know that appointing another manager right now is a waste of time and money, since the rabid Geordie-like fanbase we've developed in the last few years will be calling for his head in 6 months time when this squad is still shit.
There is some wisdom in what you say Rosco, but there is no justification for results such as Utrecht, Northampton, Wigan, Blackpool etc. That isnt a shit squad, its shit management.
It isnt a shit squad that sent Alberto to Turin and signed Poulsen.
I know you are entrenched in that opinion now and are going to ride it out regardless, but if you HONESTLY think that Roy isnt part of the problem and that a.n.other manager (v-neck, sexy, young etc) couldnt get better results than this hapless wizened old twat, you are (and please dont take this the wrong way) a fucking mental case.
I never said he isn't part of the problem. Just not the biggest part - which is the shit squad and high wage bill.
I'd rather see him sacked when we have the wage bill lowered and the dross cleared out of the squad so the new V-neck wearing handsome manager has some decent young players and money to work with.

We won't have any success until that's done and rebuilding begins.

I said it last summer but for the sake of completion I might as well again, as long as we keep adding piecemeal to a fundamentally flawed squad we'll struggle for CL qualification and essentially waste a few more years kidding ourselves we're going places.

If we go nuclear, we could be shit for another 18 months or so and I'm willing to accept that. Because if we can gain some financial flexibility prior to the onset of the UEFA financial rules we'll be at a massive advantage when players become available, and a lot of big clubs around Europe will have to shed a lot more from the wage bill in order to fall in line with the rules.
Youre right - with all the money we save by being run on a more "financially sound" basis we can.......errrrr...... fill the gap left by consecutive seasons not playing in the Champions League........ except we couldnt possibly bridge that gap in income shortfall, given that are spending is entirely proportional with our competitors....

So we'd be going for the "18 months in the wilderness" option, for the net benefit of precisely fuck all. That doesnt sound particularly cogent.

"Stevie, Fernando, Pepe, Raul... were going to take 18mths of being a bit shit to steady the ship - that okay with you? Financial stability is important, and we want to take advantage of other clubs possibly shipping out decent players in 2 or 3 years time.... what do you mean 'get fucked'?"

Hahahahahahaha

ros can dance around the issue all he likes, and bring up things like wage bill, strength of competiton, value for money of the squad but the bottom line is we have a better squad than bolton, n'castle, s'land and b'burn yet we are level points with b'burn and the other teams mentioned are above us, also the teams with worse squads have 'somehow' managed to gleen more away points.

Would Joe Cole be playing as handicapped as this had he gone to play for Harry Redknapp in the summer?

Would. He. Fuck.

To dismiss the lack of bearing a manager has on a teams fortunes is fucking stupid.

Soccernomics and what not has told us that the main criteria is a clubs wage bill, therefore it must be the truth.

Yes. Chelsea have proven that. They win the title every year regardless of which manager is in charge.
So do Real Madrid.

If you gave the United job to Avram Grant, he'd win the title.

*sighs dreamily*

I can actually live with no CL for a couple of seasons if we rebuild properly and develop a style of play from top to bottom of the club. Rijkaard could do that for us.

I heard van der vaart plays for free.

Ross is right, we have a shit overpaid squad.

Brendan, Spide et al are also right, we have a shit manager.

Yay!

So you made the judgement after our best season in the league in probably 20 years that we need to rip the squad apart?

Jesus fucking Christ Neil. His hame is ROSS you ignorant sack of shite. And quot posting in this thread, its fucking painful watching you repeat everything that's been said.

Neil can be annoying with his love of stating the fucking obvious but Jeez Paddy, that was a bit OTT.

Back to the thread, Ross does have a point, wage bill needs to be cut, obviously. However, Ross does go a bit overboard with his love of Soccernomics and obviously we would be higher up the table and performing better if we had a different manager.

1 point against Wigan, Stoke and Newcastle away isn't good enough. Losing to Blackpool isn't good enough etc. The wage bill didn't cost us there. Not to sound like the Spide, but we need to lower the wage bill but at the same time a better manager would improve us.
