calling down the wrath of the forum here but when lucas is allowed freedom he plays better, is instructed to sit deep and shield the defense and dont think that's where his strengths lie because he isn't strong on the ball and his long range pasing is rubbish but that's twice now when we've played the home leg lucas has got forwards competantly.
He got forward twice. He scored a goal on one of the occassions and mis-controlled the ball on the other. I'm not knocking the lad but let's not go over the top.

I'm not going over the top I'm saying I don't think being and out and out holding midfielder suits him. we'll see how he handles himself in the attacking brazil side.

Saying he got forward competently IS over the top given he only got forward twice.
you certainly feel like you're walking on eggshells when talking positively about lucas in this place that's for sure.

He took his goal really well Neil. He's been duly applauded for it. But that was it. He really didn't do much else, hence the 'let's take a step back.' No-one is criticising him though and I for one do feel he gets unnecessary stick at times.

like I said I'm indifferent to lucas but I think he is being asked to perform a role that doesn't suit him. meh! not going to stick my neck out for lucas again I get enough stick for defending babel 😉
