You should first look in the mirror and take your own advise. You're invalid Brendan.

Agree about the physicality. I think free-kicks and corners are our best hope of scoring - Almunia looks seriously nervous at the moment.

I don't think Rafa is that stupid to not follow the blueprint that was shown the past 2 weeks on how to beat Arsenal. Problem is, we might not have the players to capitalize.

Hmm- since they were largely terrorised by two of the best forwards in world football in Rooney and Dogbreath, I think you might be right,

We've got the best supporting striker in the whole wide world!

in maxi and riera you have two players who can keep the ball extremely well. I would start them on the wings with kuyt and gerrard though the middle but rafa will definately start kuyt wide right because he will feel kuyt will offer the right fullback more protection.
personally I would fill the team with as many players who are good at retaining posession as possible because if we lose it we may not see the ball again for ages.

carra is a wonderful defender but I hope he really chooses his passes tonignt, at the weekend everton had the ball for a good passage of play (not that they were doing any damage) the ball would break for us and went it went to carra he hoofed it up field giving them the ball again. we don't want to be chasing the ball because we will tire, especially torwards the end of the game.

Arsenal forward Nicklas Bendtner is pressing for his first start since October against Liverpool.

The Gunners, who have only scored once in three games, are still missing striker Eduardo with a torn hamstring.

Liverpool defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos begins a three-match ban for his sending off against Everton.

Martin Skrtel is likely to be recalled in his place, but midfielder Alberto Aquilani misses the game due to illness.

just got this from the bbc site

We need to be quite physical. Don't like it up em, and all that.
Good post Fark, as per.
I would only give us a chance of winning tonight if we make it a battle. If we can be as physical tonight as we were on Saturday Arsenal will struggle to cope imo. This is the way I think Rafa will go too.

Our set peices will be very important too, we have to get top class delivery from Gerrard tonight.

I knew we shouldnt have let him watch the match on Saturday. Watching those tackles must have really upset his stomach

I'd prefer if Arsenal started with Arshavin on top again.

Thank you.
I dont think I would. He seems to be one of those players who regularly scores against certain teams ( us). If he plays tonight bet your shirt on him converting chances like the ones hes missed in the last three games.

Yeah, with just 5 goals in his two games against us, we've got him sussed, haven't we?

seriously? just because he has been blunt against manu and chelsea against US he scores for fun. personally want him as far away from our goal as possible.

The point KHL is making is that up front, alone, Arshavin is not the goal threat he is in other areas. His goals against us have come from midfield.

That's one good reason.

If they were to field Bendtner upfront instead - who's twice the size of any other attacking-player in the Arsenal-squad these days - they'd simply get more physical prowess as well. And that's another very good reason why I hope they are keeping Arshavin upthere.

Without a big player upfront - or at least a player who can win the physical battles - they'll always have to attack in massive numbers trying to combine their way through, and as a direct result they are often leaving themselves extremely exposed to counters, as we've seen against United and Chelski of late.

Hmmm. Where's ibromurph when you need him?

Ah, you and bloody Bender. I should have known!
It could've been Jones or Crouch for all I care.

Arsenal just don't look like a real good team without a strong proper striker playing.

A player like Torres would obviously make them lethal.

some good points here though I think we will be without the ball for long periods whoever starts. I'm more worried about a Srktel comedy showing since he's not been in the best of form, we need to be solid whatever happens. going forward we have enough experienced players in Gerrard, Maxi, Kuyt etc. to nick it if the defence is solid

Oh? You're usually more concerned with how much of a liability Carra is going to be, Headwand.

Heres the team for tonight

Reina
Carragher
Skrtel
Agger
Insua
Kuyt
Lucas
Mascherano
Maxi
Gerrard
Ngog
Cheers Redshrek, no surprises there really..

Come on redmen!

That looks disturbingly like a 4-5-1 with N'gog up on his own. Doesn't really fill me with optimism, to be honest.

Hopefully he plays a blinder. Can't see it though.

You said the exact same thing ahead of the Everton game.

That bodes well.

Gerrard is looking far more mobile now, I think he will be able to get up and support Ngog tonight. Ngog did an OK job of holding it up on Saturday, same again please Wash.
