60m is par for course in this marketplace given his potential, current ability and contract length at RB.

Getting him for the prices (£40-50m) you stated would be getting "a deal", I agree. But we can't always rely on getting "a deal", to get the players we want/need.

If he turns out to be a great player for us, no one will care. If he turns out to be a flop, wouldn't matter if we paid 45m or 60m, imo, we'd have lost time and money.

With the qualities of the midfielders we've bought in I'd be happy now with 1 more defender, I think more incomings will rely on who goes out.....as that last defender with no outgoings means no more non-HG players over 22 being registered.

Salah and Mane turned out to be great deals because of what they've done for us since then, but even if they cost 60m or 70m, you'd still look back and say they were great deals. Ox (ability wise) going for the similar as Salah & Mane around 35m actually demonstrates my point at how laughly overpriced English players are relative to their actual footballing talent. We could look back in a few years and laugh at how Rice went for 40m more than Dom, or how Mount went for a similar price.

KDB came from Germany for a similar price (€75 million), yet you look back at that now and say it was a bargain vs "Prem Proven", "English" AOC at £35m.

Ultimately, only the fullness of time will prove whether £60m for Dom is a great deal or not.

I did too but with these 2 we've got in now (which I don't think many saw happening 6 weeks ago) I can't help but think Klopp's got other plans on his mind.....he didn't drop Fab hardly once last season and I think he still has faith in him to at least restore some of his form for another season....& maybe he wants to really push Baj?

We will see what develops between now and the next few weeks, there's a chance Thiago is off somewhere....I wouldn't mind seeing Ndidi bought in tbh.
