Swansea Post Match - just feck off

After Lovren had fucked up in front of him. Epitomised our CBs today. I want Lovren gone - his head goes when he makes a mistake and then more follow in quick succession.

Yeah, he seems to have a poor game in between 2-3 very good performances.
Indivudual mistakes costing us again.

Need to spend some money to try and find a proper CB to partner Matip.

Title was over ages ago but now I'm seriously worried about whether we will make top 4. It's like we peaked too early in the season or teams have figured how to play against our high pressing. Either klopp is to blame for not having adequate cover for mane and for not fixing our defensive issues. Teams score against us too easily.

We blatantly need one or two players NOW.

Nobody could have predicted that Matip would be out because of what happened with Cameroon.

And we had Origi and Sturridge waiting to step in when Mane was away.

We also need to be able to mix it up more when we go forward. Our inability to get past teams which set out to defend and can hold their shape is starting to get worrying. We're always going to give them at least one chance and at the moment they're in with a decent shout if they convert it.

We dont have a like for like player to Manè and its costing us big time in terms of how the team is set up.
Really poor that we havent adressed that.

For me the issue is the lack of a suitable alternative to Mane, Matip, Milner and Clyne.

We need a lot more quality on the bench and in the squad. That's only going to happen with time and CL qualification (I think we'll need about 3 in a row). That's now the realistic aim this year.

We seem to just try to play through them .. today we had zero width, that was partly due to no Mane but also because Milner was inexplicably AWOL. Ojo looked excellent in midweek he should at least have been on the bench and would have given us the pace and width we required (as I said at HT).

We do but Klopp won't play him. Ojo has pace tricks and stays wide, he is very young and inexperienced but I don't understand why he wasn't an option from the bench today.

It's fine, Jurgen reassured us we would cope so BELIEVE.
Codeword for "no money available". We're still paying off this stadium expansion and without CL or Europe. We've got by on recent years by selling players before we could buy.

We have been total shite since the start of the year. The squad isn't strong enough but Klopp or FSG don't seem to want to bring in fresh legs or different options.
The way we started today has to be levelled at Klopp as we looked happy to play slowly back and forth across the pitch hoping swansea would make a mistake and I didn't see him telling the players to do anything different. No penetration and not enough players in the box when we did get it wide. Tactically hopeless today.

Doesn't matter. Our squad isn't good enough then if the loss of one player means we totally collapse at the back. Matip will get injuries what happens then?

Neither origi or sturridge are wide forwards. We needed another winger and it never happened. Lallana doesn't play as well further forward.

We're having a bad patch

We have one every season & we generally recover from them

We could do with a goalie that earns us points we don't deserve more often. Today what was it? Three shots on target and three goals?

Maybe a bit harsh on Ming as those saves would have been difficult to pull off but I feel a top class one would have done better.

I wouldn't hesitate 1 bit getting rid of both.

What sums this match for me, from our side, is lack of quality. It's always difficult to break down teams who park the bus and Clement did a good job organizing that previously shambolic Swansea defense into a defensive shield. To get past a team like that you need quality at the crucial moments to turn the fine margins in your favor, and that's what we were missing from most players, apart from Firmino and Coutinho and perhaps Lallana.

The set-piece deliveries and crosses from Milner that were flat and easily cut out. The CB pair who could not control Llorente and committed unforced errors as well. Henderson giving the ball away numerous times. Clyne being unable to do anything with the ball when he was our only attacking player allowed some space in the 1st half. Can and Wijnaldum not offering enough drive and goal threat from midfield. Lack of in-form attacking options on the bench that could have changed the game. We've had a good run, but today that crucial lack of quality has been finally exposed.

Very poor showing all things considered. Just serves as a reminder that we are certainly a work in progress still.

Klopp's in game management leaves alot to be desired, it's ok punching the air on the touchline, yeah the fans love all of that, but actual decisions within in the game - this stems right back to the Villareal game away, we expected a tougher game than we got and we could have got a result there, had we taken the initiative in the game and added another attacker. We've seen loads of similar hesitation since. His halftime alterations tactically can often be very good, but he never changes things when it's staggeringly obvious.

Firmino has been terrible since he lost the striker slot, Can has been terrible for most of this season and his inclusion leaves the midfield flat and predictable. Both have needed addressing for ages now, since before Xmas. He's persevered with Firmino wide, and then often changed it during the game when he's realised for the umpteenth time that it doesn't work, and he continues to persist with Can, Hendo and Wijnaldum, just because. He might be an established player, but for the good of the team we'll find more balance jibbing him off, putting Lallana in midfield and playing someone else wide, with Firmino up top.

Very frustrating day and Klavan was poor from the word go, so the wait to throw Matip on at 90mins+ was both perplexing and fucking annoying.

Klopp needs to show he can be ruthless here and that he can wake the fuck up and realise our good early season form has long since evaporated.

The Matip substitution was embarassing. Wijnaldum was stood next to Matip on the touchline whilst play was ongoing and we were on the attack. Very poor

Our options are limited to either persisted with that trio of midfielders or dropping one of them to play Lallana in there and then Origi or Sturridge up front.

Origi and Sturridge are probably our two most off form players currently and playing them disrupts Firmino's effectiveness.

Neither option has been too good for us lately.

For title? It was never on.

For top 6? very much so.

We were 3rd at the start of the day. I'm as annoyed with the team as anyone, but I haven't completely lost perspective. The top 6 isn't anywhere near over. Well done on being typically hysterical though.

Like i said a past penetrating winger is all we need so the team of last year can score.

Oops, genuine error in my post....was meant to say 'very much on'

But if we're not careful, we could slip to 6th place come April.
