Di Marzio is saying that Milan will try to sign him so he's their player for next year .... I guess a 'Bosman' or a small fee ...

Surely - since he seems to be rated amongst various clubs - we should give him a contract so we can amke more on a transfer fee? Letting him go on the cheap seems to be bad business considering how much we've invested in his development.

I know he's best suited to a position in the team that currently has some top quality competition, but all the same, he's surely the kind of young player you'd have thought Rodgers would be purring about his prospects. He's got great potential, his attitude (as far as an outsider can see) has got better and better, he loves being at the club, he's anxious to make his mark here and he hasn't blown the brief and isolated chances he's been given. And yet there doesn't appear to be any great enthusiasm for him shown by the management. Who knows what goes on behind closed doors but I find it exasperating.

I'm sure the club sees that too. In one interview, he's pleaded for the club to sell him or play him, and then in a recent interview, said both the club and him want to extend the contract. I suspect he's dragging his feet on signing as he takes the next few months to assess what his chances of playing under Rodgers are if he stays.

I think/hope we haven't made the same mistake with Teixeira. He claimed in his Facebook post earlier this year (or late last year) that he'd signed an extension, but there wasn't any announcement from the club on that. We'll see how that one pans out.

Read somewhere that we were disapointed by how he conducted himself while on loan last season.
Didnt follow his diet and fitness plan and was caught out drinking on a sick day.

If true, maybe Rodgers doesnt believe he has the commitment to develop and succeed at Liverpool.
Or it could all be bollock and we cant promise him first team football and are selling him for 3 mill as his contract runs out next year.

Barring an injury crisis, we usually start 4 to 5 players from the CM/AM pool and have 3 on the bench. That means a regular matchday squad of 18 will have 7 to 8 players from the pool of 10 below:
-- Gerrard, Henderson, Allen, Can, Lallana, Sterling, Markovic, Coutinho, Lucas, Suso

With injuries, loss of form, weariness, etc. and maybe Lucas moving out in January, chances will certainly open up and improve for him to get into the matchday squad over the course of the season - the question is whether he's willing to be patient and then make his chances count when he gets them.

If he gives up here, there isn't a shortage of players who will come in and take his place next season, as we've got Ibe, Teixeira, Luis Alberto (outside chance perhaps though he appears to have started well at Malaga) returning from loan, with potentially a replacement for Gerrard coming in from a transfer.

Will be a pity if our work developing him doesn't result in him playing for us, but I guess that's the necessary if brutal fallout from the competition for places we wanted to see in the club.

Don't forget Rossiter / Can for that slot 😉

I've felt for some time that for whatever reason his face doesn't fit. Talent doesn't seem to be a problem so would be interesting to know what it is.

Interesting. Can't say I was overly impressed myself when I saw he'd been given a couple of days off after the Soton game and flown straight off to Malaga to sit on the beach. Doesn't exactly scream dedication.

Suso is joining Milan according to Di Marzio. £2.4m fee. Pity.

I wonder if this was somehow related to Mario going @ 16 million ...

Let's hope there's a buy back clause ... I wonder if he can be for them what Kaka was when he arrived as the Son.

Fuck Suso, the no contract signing motherfucker.
I hope he fails at Milan and ends up with Pacheco.

I'm done with him.

YOU HATE JESUS?!?!?!?!??!

There's only one Jesus I like.

Definitely think it's either a "face fits" thing, or attitude. He's got all the talent in the World, what a shame.

I think he's serious.

I mean, he hasn't even bothered bumping his own thread, also entitled "Suso" from earlier this week.

THESE ARE THE END TIMES!

I made the "end times" prediction ages ago, when I realised me and Modo agree on Suso.

Seriously, I can't be bothered with him any more.
Fuck me, all those hours I spent watching that joke of a team in Spain and this cunt doesn't want to sign a new contract.
Fuck him.

Have we offered him a contract?

According to Suso himself in his interview (last week or week before), there were talks between club and player/agent. Whether that amounted to an actual offer on the table, don't know. I'd think the only logical reason for us to not even offer a contract (if that's the case) is if the Suso camp has been adamant in forcing a move or running down his contract.

He could do well to read the article below. Granted, Milan isn't a small club, but they're a club with a bit of stability issue at the moment, so not exactly the best environment for a youngster to learn in. I think if he's determined to leave, the smart thing for him to do would be to wait out and observe how Inzaghi does at Milan between now and January before committing to a pre-contract to join them next season on a Bosman, or telling Liverpool to accept Milan's offer and make the move in the winter transfer window.

[article]Anthony Le Tallec regrets wasting Liverpool chance
Published: 23 November 2012

Anthony Le Tallec believes he could have emulated the feats of Fernando Torres or Carlos Tevez had he not wasted the opportunity he had as a young striker at Liverpool.

Le Tallec, now 28, moved to Liverpool, under French compatriot Gerard Houllier, from Le Havre when he was still a teenager in 2001 after excellent performances for France's Under-17 World Cup winning team.

But he told sports daily L'Equipe that he regretted having asked the then-Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez to leave the club in 2004 when he was still only 20.

He now plays for Valenciennes in France's Ligue 1 but explained why it did not work out in England when he was younger.

"I had an agent who kept telling me St Etienne wanted me. Benitez was recruiting Spanish players. I told myself I would not have my chance.

"It hurts when, after Liverpool, you play in smaller clubs. I did not realise that I was in a great club. I have regrets. When I see Torres, Tevez, who are of the same generation, I say to myself 's***'.

"My agent tells me: 'Torres stole your career!," he added, laughing.

"I'm not jealous but I say to myself that I could have done like him."

While on Liverpool's books he was loaned to St Etienne, Sunderland, Sochaux and Le Mans, signing a permanent deal with Le Mans in 2008 before moving to AJ Auxerre in 2010 and Valenciennes this season.

He has scored five goals from seven Ligue 1 appearances with Valenciennes, who are sixth in the standings ahead of Friday's trip to St Etienne.[/article]

Milan have convinced Liverpool’s Suso to join them

Suso agreed to move to Milan, there have been many confirmations about this. Liverpool’s attacker accepted Milan’s proposal and will sign with the Italian club as soon as it will be allowed. His contract expires in a year’s time and in few months he’ll be able to officially commit to his new team. He received intriguing offers from Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid, appealing bids especially for Reds since both clubs were ready to acquire him immediately paying around €3M. But Suso dreamed to play in Italy. His father was a footballer like him and together they decided that Italy would be the right career move. Suso waits for Milan, he’ll join in June or maybe even in January: Milan will have to pay a small fee to Liverpool. Otherwise, Galliani will acquire him for free, like Juve did with Pogba and Coman: two amazing deals. And Rabiot? Roma will soon meet PSG, but that’s a different story: we’ll soon find out whether he’ll accept to transfer to Serie A too.

The kid keeps getting palmed off on loan, and doesn't get any games for us, and we're moaning he wont sign a new contract?

If he's going to go, let him go in January, but demand a 25% sell on, he will be a great player.

Rather than a sell-on fee (or in addition to) I'd like us to have a buy-back option at a fixed price valid for say 3 years. Enough so that Milan think it'd be a very good profit but not enough to hurt us if he blossoms. Maybe something like €10-12m. I think Suso would like that option too and be happy to agree as he genuinely seems to love LFC.
