[article=http://www.insidespanishfootball.com/100495/suso-im-the-first-one-the-fans-whistle-and-boo/]Almería forward Suso has admitted that he’s not happy at being the focus of criticism from the fans, if the team isn’t getting results.
Last November, Suso overslept and missed a training session, but later turned up to apologise for the incident. He was fined accordingly by manager Francisco and everyone thought that would be the end of the matter.
Almería lost 1-3 at home against Sevilla this last weekend and when Suso was substituted in the 63rd minute, a section of the home crowd directed their discontent at the 20-year-old, clearly showing they haven’t forgotten. Another example of the player being the focal point for criticism, when things aren’t going well for the team.
At a press call this week, the on-loan Liverpool youngster explained that it’s a shame it’s happening.
“It’s not what I wanted or expected. It’s always the same. When things are going badly, I’m the first one they start whistling and booing, whilst when things are going well, they don’t give me much thought.”
Suso is trying his best not to let the criticism get to him, though he’s clearly frustrated by the sensation he’s being singled out.
“It’s fine if they’re expecting one thing of me on the pitch, if I’m not satisfying them. I can’t win games on my own and there’s eleven of us out there.”
The player then suggested that there’s little he can do to change the minds of the fans, if they’ve got their minds set on him being the focal point for venting their discontent, adding that he’s not going to be at the club much longer.
“They can do whatever they want, say what they want and give their opinions. There’s not many games left now.”
Something that won’t have helped build any bridges with the Almería fans, were his comments ahead of last weekend’s match, suggesting that he’d be interested in a move to opponents Sevilla.[/article]
