michy batshuayi to Chelsea for 33 mill £.

Spurs and West Ham miss out. Doubt Palace even had a chance.

Belgias journos think Palace and WH will now bid for Benteke

Lacazette will certainly end up at Arsenal or Spurs though, I reckon. Annoying.

Yeah, Arsenal have been linked a lot with him. 45 mill £.

Spurs wanted Bathsuayi badly according to the French media and thought they had him until Chelsea swooped in with a late bid.
CL footy did fuck all for them which must hurt a bit..

45M for Lacazette is good business by Lyon.

I'm not entirely convinced that he is the real deal after this season.

Especially when you look at the French euro squad - Benzema not selected, & Gignac who plays in Mexico is selected ahead of him ...

He scored 23 goals this season. 31 the season prior. 22 the season before that. That's 76 goals in the last 3 years. How is he not the real deal?

I think he'd be excellent in England.

Starting to feel like it would be smart to add another big ticket attacking option this window.

Preferably while retaining the options we currently have.

We'll sign two more players. That Polish lad, and a left back.

Pretty certain of it.

Yeah, but I can't see it happening. Klopp's approach, from what I can deduce anyway, seems to be two players for each position in his the 4-2-3-1/4-3-2-1 formation. So far, we have

GK: Mignolet, Karius
LB: Moreno, ?
RCB: Lovren, Gomez/Lucas
LCB: Matip, Sakho
RB: Clyne, Flanagan
DM: Can, Lucas/Stewart
CM1: Henderson, Allen/Grujic
CM2: Milner, ?
LW: Coutinho, Markovic
RW: Lallana, Mane
#9: Origi, Ings
#10: Sturridge, Firmino

I don't think Benteke is in his plans, and I don't foresee us signing a striker to replace him either. And I can't see us signing someone like Dahoud unless we sell Allen.

A CB might still happen though. Unless he's comfortable with Lucas at CB!

Lucas, Stewart, Allen, Markovic, Origi are not good enough.

We have no real idea if Grujic, Ings or Firmino are either, yet.

So we certainly need another CB, DM, and striker.

The main problem seems that he only plays well in a 4-4-2 and that he struggles as a lone striker. Which is why he wasn't picked for the french squad. If that's the case i can't see Arsenal going for him either.

I think it's a question of a surplus of talent. Griezmann can't play as a lone striker either. But he's there.

Eh? I don't think they have a surplus of talent in attack.

Giroud isn't a world class striker. Martial is a kid, and Gignac is their version of a lumbering journeyman. Lacazette not being there is quite perplexing given the form he has shown.

Martial is great, so is Griezmann. Payet is a certain starter. They all play either side of the main striker in a 4-3-3, as none can play the central role.

I suppose Gignac is Giroud's back-up, and they also have Coman for one of the attacking positions, if required.

Pretty good surplus
