Summer rebuild 2023

I've never been his biggest fan but why the F would we sell CJ? Been one of our brightest sparks last season, still young and a local lad.

Lcm: AM/CJ
Rcm: DS/KT
DM: RL/SB

Is the dream midfield right?
Until proven shit I'd still take Fabs over two inexperienced youngsters. I'm not certain whether Fabs' poor form last season had more to do with the carnage of our midfield than his personal demise. He's only 29 and has always been the slowest member of the squad. He turned it on in a few matches however so it's still there.

Particularly if we’re going with a box midfield and Trent is at least covering some ground in midfield before moving out to RB when we lose possession and the press doesn’t immediately win back possession.

Yeah that’s a good list there - we need more cover in midfield as there will be injuries and we can’t have Fabs and Hendo on the field in the same go

we need to sell H E IMho - too much of a plodder. Overall glad to see signings but We need more strength in depth still.

Was never convinced he was the right fit. Maybe he could develop into another Wijnaldum in a few years, but he wasn’t what we needed now.

Harvey Elliott? Hendo?

Our strength is depth is actually pretty reasonable.....you aim for 2x suitable players in every position & we generally have that......maybe could do with a more experienced RB/DM but otherwise I'd say we're good to go.

I guess I think neither are good enough for strength in depth. Would like some more options and competition for places. Would like more than the minimum.

Let’s not make it too complicated. Get Thuram and Colwill signed, whatever it takes. Sell Thiago, Tsimikas, Matip and Gomez, then take a look at @Bradley and Van der Berg during pre-season and if neither are good enough, sign a cheap-ish young RB/CB to cover for Trent and Konate. Win the league.

GK: Alisson/Kelleher

RCB: Konate/[new defender]
CB: Virge
LCB: Colwill/Robbo

DLP: Trent
DM: Fabinho/Bajcetic/Hendo
LCM: MacAllister/Thuram/Jones
RCM: Szoboszlai/Elliott

LW: Diaz/Jota
CF/False 9: Nunez/Gakpo
RW: Salah

Not haing cover for Trent is a little worrying.

SoBossLa covers Mo,

I'd be thrilled if we could get Timber & someone like Ndidi/Amrabat or if Timber will be too much then someone like Debast or Kossounou.....Leverkusen really have some good CB's, Xavi could maybe send 1 our way on the cheap?

I don't think every signing needs to be a potential world class one....sometimes it's ok to make the lesser ones as well.

You do know Timber is going to Arsenal right?

So multiple sources reporting Lavia is the last piece of the midfield puzzle.

If we're sure about him then I hope we can negotiate the price down, £50m seems ridiculous to me.

Exactly, he hasn't done anything to warrant that fee. I don't think he stood out at all last season and his stats are pretty "meh".
Not saying that he doesn't have potential.
Pretty big gamble if you ask me.

Give them Morton on loan for a season, £30m + £15m achievable add ons.

Then sign Thuram as well for shits & giggles.

Ok can we stop with the Mbappe rumours now, they were funny to begin with...now it's just tedious and a waste of everyone's time tbh.

I think it's a laugh as it's people with large following in Spain saying it... We all know he want's Madrid and Madrid want him. PSG have offered him to us but at a record fee... we all know even if he was available for free, he would demand £1m+ a week. And we can't do that

They have a large following for all the wrong reasons....such as this, they spout out a lot of shit that people will look at and laugh.

I think we could make a case for keeping each one of Hendo, Thiago, and Fabs in isolation from the experience and continuity point of view. Problem is that they probably eat up 500-600K per week in wages and as a collective, they don't offer enough in terms of value for wages.

Yes, forgot about Mbappe.
Colwill’s will be this year’s Bellingham.
We don't and never needed to concern ourselves with your Mbappe's, Bellingham's, Sancho's or who'll be the next so and so.

We've got by just fine the last 6-7 years due to a mix of smart recruitment and great management.
