Summer rebuild 2023

We will spend more than people think this summer I reckon.
Optimistic of new owners in the next few months there Hansern?

There's absolutely nothing to base that on, look at the last 10 years spend when we're not selling players for 80m or 120m.

We’ve spunked £120 million on left forwards in the last 12 months.

Nunez isn't a left forward, he's doing a job there. If Klopp starts playing Salah at Left back does that mean he's now a left back?

We did lose 3 players in the summer that predominantly played on the left btw if you paid attention.....As well as Diaz being out injured for basically the whole season.

Where was the money for a midfielder?

We are playing him left forward. That makes him a left forward. Even when Gakpo arrived he continues at left forward.

Yet you're calling Gakpo a left forward too even though we're playing him as centre forward for almost every game? Make your mind up.

Nunez started and played left forward. Gakpo didn’t start. Came on and played………………….

Left forward.

Well done, now go through all the other games and see where Gakpo has played.

Jota started the game as a right forward, so is he now a right forward?

Klopp has made me question him this season, but I still have faith he will turn it around. This season should be used as a learning curve
a) Getting one player in and losing 3 to pay for that one player is not sustainable
b) Having a Sell to Buy model but letting players walk for free is not sustainable
c) Playing a Highline when the personnel at hand cannot track back isn't workable in the long run unless refreshment is bought in
d) Hanging on to players until they ask to leave is stupid. You're not good enough, goodbye (eg CJ and Gomez)
e) If the budget is £50m per season, then be clever with the budget. CJ will not fix the cracks in MF
f) Some have suggested, its Pep, who has been given more responsibility with tactics and coaching to see if he can take over from Klopp. If that's the case, take that control back

Jota the right centre left forward is that what you are saying?

Are you so blind you can’t see that both Nunez and Gakpo are left sided forwards?

Think you're just being difficult for the sake of being difficult.

I'll let you crack on by yourself on this matter.

Back to your original point. We spent £120 million. Spent it badly.

And again we spent it on areas where we lost 3 players...we also had a significant player out for a sustained period of time.

You can't go into a season with Salah Bobby and Jota as your only forward options.

If we spent that 120m on midfielders, Salah would be our only goal scorer in the team and everyone would be questioning why we didn't spend on replacing the forwards that left.

We flushed down the toilet the chances of building on that incredible success three seasons ago. The rebuild will take at least two transfer windows and other teams will not be calmly waiting for us to catch up. And Klopp will have to accept that he can't work with a small, tightly-knit squad any more.

Nunez isn't a left forward naturally, however klopp seems eager to play him there so gakpo can be the false 9. I'm fine with that, as it stops the fake 9 of Jota from playing more often than not

I think Nunez plays there because they both are new to their roles. Once Diaz is fit it will be interesting to see how we line up.

All of Nunez goals have come from playing the 9 whether at Liverpool or Benfica, he's a 9 doing a job on the left because Klopp likes his pace on the wings. End of.

I can still see Diaz taking mos place on the right

I think that will be a long shot in all honesty. Diaz has played on the right about 2-3 times in the last 5-6 years. But it would be good for us to get a player that could compete with Mo. Worth a try.

We needed a forward and a midfielder at the very least. I’m not saying we needed 3 midfielders last summer at the expense of the forward positions. We bought the wrong players for the wrong positions.

Definitely. We should’ve been more ruthless with the squad and more calculated with purchases. We just went to shit.

And we should still be ruthless this squad. Too much sentiment about this or that player— get rid if’n not delivering; they get paid millions precisely for this reason.

I feel like I will be pissed if opens his purse this summer or does not open his purse. If we go on a spending spree, in a weird way, it will be irritating. All of this could have been avoided by taking some more risks in the transfer market since the CL winning season.

Yes, it's like idiots who don't fix their houses roof, then spend a bomb on the water damage, and get expensive unnecessary renovations. Five years later, normal preventative maintenance is needed and... hrm.

That’s absolutely not true.

5 of his 8 league goals and 2 of his 4 CL goals have come while playing in the left.

He’s played 10 of his 22 league games and 3 of his 8 CL games on the left.

So he’s actually, at a basic stat level, delivering more from the left than through the middle.

I think that was the same at Benfica.

First goal - in the CF position after being assisted from wide.
Second goal - in the CF position after being assisted from wide.
Third goal - in the CF position after being assisted from wide.
4th goal - from the left but he's basically come all the way inside as the second central forward.
5th goal - in the CF position after being assisted from wide.
6th goal - in the CF position after being assisted from a corner.
7th goal - in the CF position after being assisted from a corner.
8th goal - again playing from the left but you wouldn't tell from the goal as he's in a very central position.
9th goal - in the CF position after being assisted from wide.
10th goal - From the left after being assist from deep.

Being in the CF position and playing as a CF are 2 different things.

Since Gakpo arrived, Nunez has hardly played through the centre.

For example - he was operating from the left when he scored his 2 against City.

I haven’t watched the video to see which goal is which.

Personally, I want Nunez in the middle

We don't have the confidence for a false 9 ATM, so play our best, quickest and strongest forward in the middle
