Summer rebuild 2023

Virgil and Alli were *final* pieces to an almost ready jigsaw puzzle.
Are you saying this is an almost ready jigsaw puzzle and we're missing 2 pieces to compete on all fronts again?
We need midfielders who are like Mane @ soton quality, Mo @ Roma quality etc - and neither of those two were not considered "bellingham quality" (i.e. top talent in the world) when we signed them.
Virgil and Allison were final pieces in retrospect; I don't recall them being called out as the final pieces at the time of their signings. At least with Virgil there were many (on here & elsewhere) who, while happy we signed him, bemoaned the fact that we had gone backwards at the top end of the pitch by getting rid of Coutinho and saying we were less equipped to break the low block.

Fair shout

Gvardiol and Nunes for £35-40 mill.each would be enough.

Wolves paid 40 million pounds for Nunes last year. I am guessing he will cost atleast that plus an additional 5 to 10 million.

Gvardiol transfer if it happens will be for a world record fee for a defender. 80 million plus for a defender.

IMO that's an overestimate of what the cost would be. Bellingham for £120-150 mill.and Gvardiol and Nunes for £35-40 mill.each would be enough. It's true that that doesn't currently seem likely and I agree with your second para, but I'd locate that rigidity of thinking in the owners' approach to finance rather than in the area of transfers. Klopp wants us to stay at the top and thinks he can achieve that with the right support. Your final para.is a respectable point of view but I'd prefer to avoid such compromises when (a) the manager doesn't think they're a good idea and (b) there's no guarantee that we would be able to climb the mountain again.
Gvadiol for 40m?

What are you smoking over there?

Gvardiol goes for 60-70m, Probably could've got him for 40m last summer but after the World Cup he had and now being one of Leipzig's key player....no chance.

We really need out scouts to be out there in lesser leagues picking out these players with potential......Spurs did it years ago with Alderweireld & Vertonghen, City with Kompany, Napoli with Kim, Newcastle with Botman, Arsenal with Saliba and Gabriel, Benfica with Bah, Sampdoria with Skriniar etc.

Lacroix at Wolfsburg? Go take a punt for 20-30m why not. Attila Szalai at Fenerbache? Fuck it why not. Facundo Medina at Lens? Let's do it. Pierro Hincapie at Leverkusen? Sure thing. Josip Sutalo at Zagreb? These are the next crop of top CB's with potential to be great if they get the right moves.

Reports suggesting Klopp won't get £200m which would not surprise me. If Klopp is only getting £130m plus sales, how would you plan the summer window?
I'd like 3-4 MF, a RB and a CB.

Liverpool FC are a bit leaky aren't they?

They seem to tell everyone their plans everyday.

Are we to substitute rumour for "report".

So where's this 130m come from?

Doubt very much he'll even be given that....when has he ever? Was Rodgers ever given that when we were failing to make CL every year?

Seems as though we have some sort of Mendes discount on Nunes. 40-45 mill ish. If Wolves get relegated he will cost 30-35 mill.

Nobody knows our transfer budget for this summer. We dont even know if we will have CL, EL or no European comps at all.

To be truthful, the club hasn't let out what and how much it will give Klopp... we're relying journos. Now lets say Klopp had £250m, it wouldn't be wise to announce it. All Henry indicated Klopp will have enough money to invest in the squad. David Ornstein, said its looking less likely we will get Jude. If Dortmund want €150m for Jude, in my view that's a price very much out of our scope (despite writing off this season to save up for the lad).
The figure of £130m I picked out of thin air as a discussion point, you're welcome to have your own budget you think Klopp will be given. The one thing we know for sure is at least 3 MFs are leaving, and if Milner stays, then it would be reduced capacity as a player. Henry has to find means to get Klopp atleast 2 MFs otherwise there will be backlash

We've talked about Bellingham for ages. I don't believe FSG thought they'd get him (if they do actually want him) for peanuts or that there wouldn't be competition for his signature.

It's going to take money. A whole lot of spending money. It's going to take plenty of money. To do it right.

When you compare to what we've got, he's on a different stratosphere. Same goes for Neves Moutinho at 83 years of age and the new kid they just signed.

Plus how Wolves/Loptegui choose to use him I'd imagine is very different to how Klopp would use him.

This is the problem.

How the fuck does Henry, who spends 99% of his time sat in his leather recliner or laid in his outdoors jacuzzi in Boston, know how much is enough to invest in the squad? He hasn't a clue.

Can't believe we are looking at Bellingham at 130million. Could have got him 17 years ago for 50p and a mars bar. Our transfer approach is laughable.

… and we could sign the entire continent of South America instead!!!

I'd be bitterly disappointed if we went for nunes. He was a last summer signing; not a this summer signing.
