Summer rebuild 2023

@StevieM We can wait till summer, but I don't believe we will spend more than £100m, now that might be enough to get Jude, but I don't know if they'll then try to make up the rest of the transfers using free agents, lets hope so or trade in Nat/Gomez, Matip and CJ to raise £40-65m and get either Mount or Nunes

See this is where you become more unhinged than Unhingey MacUnhingeyface, Lord Mayor of Unhingedville.

If we trade Nat/Gomez, Matip - then we’ll need to sign 2 CB’s - none of it will go to a MF, so you’re left with CJ - who won’t generate enough funds for a midfielder of that caliber and will likely be retained.

I reckon it comes down to this - we qualify for CL, great crack on with 2-3 top end signings or we don’t and FSG either makes the decision to reduce the transfer budget in line with expected income reduction or loosens the strings to keep spending high to increase the likelihood of a return to CL.

In either case, the sum of money for the transfer pot is partly a red herring - I’m more concerned about whether we have a team in place to enact whatever the buying/selling strategy is to the high level we need it to be.

Not investing in a midfielder in January and then saying less funds will be available this summer without CL football is not good management from FSG.
Its work a miracle again, please.

Klopp can actually do that, but we need major investment no matter were we end up in the table.

“Josko Gvardiol will be a RB Leipzig player next season as well,” Rose said. “I am the coach and I am asking for that. He is happy here. He said he wants to play in the Premier League, but he didn’t say when.”
Gvardiol has a £98 million release clause in his contract — which has four years left — but it only becomes active in the summer of 2024.

I'm just verbalising (in written form) if we get Bellers (according to Davekop it's nailed on we will even if we don't make top 4 as long as we can show the club has ambition) and if the budget is just enough for Bellers then how we go about strengthening the MF.
To raise funds what are the options? Matip probably needs to move on, he is waning due to age and injury. Gomez or Nats are sellable assets, Gomez will get you the bigger fee but Nats is likely to want to leave as he probably wants game time. CJ is 22 English and is good option for a midatble club like Crystal Palace or Leicester. So you could just get Bellers and rely the rest on freebies and loans.

Or we could re-sign Naby & Ox!!!

Or we could structure the Bellingham deal in such a way that it’s paid in instalments over time.

Or we could utilise or younger players more.

Or we could sell more of our younger players.

Or there could be additional investment.

Or we could use more of our debt provision now the stadium work has largely been paid off.

Or we might have more money in the bank than you think (our accounts due out shortly will paint a picture).

We all know we should have strengthened when we were the best but we didn't. We all know we should have off-loaded players when they'd gone beyond saleable value but we didn't. So now we're left with a re-build and a probable short-fall in terms of money.
The reality is we're not Chelsea or City when it comes to money so, we're going to have to offload players we ordinarily wouldn't want to. We should have cashed in on Salah, should we sell Allison and play the other lad, should we sell VVD and buy elsewhere? Maybe we should? All the players we want gone aren't going to bring any money in. Or not enough anyway.

However, Rice would transform Liverpool's midfield if he joined the Reds, according to the club's former midfielder Dietmar Hamann.

Bellingham, meanwhile, has not been put off by Liverpool's recent poor results and remains an admirer of both the club and Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.

Should Klopp been given a 250m transfer budget in the summer I believe that it would be worth spending it all on Rice and Bellingham...
We are mainly good in the forward department with Diaz,Jota,Nunez,Salah and Gakpo,

Should we sell Salah that would be extra money in the pot, along with anyother players we sell and that money can go toward someone else in another area of the pitch, but we need a stronger midfield

Why would Rice and Bellingham want to sign for us now?
But OK we fix the midfield.
What about right back? CB?
Do you trust Klopp to replace all these underachieving players? Considering for how long Keita and Ox stuck around.
Gomez isn't going anywhere, neither is Matip.
I'm honestly starting to doubt that Klopp is going to replace anyone who doesn't want to leave.

Fucking hell Modo… don’t make me start taking Donnervan’s side!!!

Rice & Bellingham would want to sign because we’re a fucking great club, we’ll pay them well and there’s a good chance they’ll win things - that’s all that really matters.

What about RB? Trent is besties with Bellingham. Trent’s fucking great.

CB? - that’ll be addressed separately.

What’s this bollix and trusting Klopp to replace players - I trust that we’ll sort out the fucking technical team that’s suposed to analyse and find new players - somethings not right since Edwards decided to fuck off - that the thing that needs fixed.

Really… so we’re down to complaining that Klopp won’t sell the players we want him to sell - fuck off, seriously.

We need to fix the underlying problems and we need to start bringing in sone talent - did it ever occur to you that Klopp’s hanging on players because he’s not being presented with options he can sign off on.

In the 6 or so years that Ox and Keita has been in the club, Klopp hasn't been presented with any option to replace them?
I personally believe that we've run our so called starting 11 into the ground because our back ups have been either unavailable or useless. And it's been like that for years.

Yes, I'm complaning that Klopp isn't getting rid of anyone and evidently he isn't. Unless their contract has run out.

What Klopp hasn't been presented with are (a) options he considered good enough or (b) the funds to buy those who would be up to standard. I for one am right behind him on not wanting to make changes simply for change's sake.

Nor have we had just one "starting XI". No-one does nowadays.

Best XI, Ryan. Best XI.

Some players play start over 40 games every season, some start 10.
I'm guessing that those who start over 40 are between 10-11 players. So yeah starting XI, best XI...semantics.

One could argue that if that's the true figure. I doubt that it is, so the point stands.

Why wouldnt they want to sign for us? Klopp is one of the best managers in the World, he is building a new team and we've just won everything you can win in football.
We're Liverpool.

If I was a player like Bellingham with lots of options to go to big clubs more or less guaranteed to win trophies (e.g. Real, City), there is no way I'd be signing for Liverpool without cast iron guarantees about mid-long term investment in the team, which I doubt I'd get.

Hasn’t it been quoted that he’s had those assurances. Which would’ve been the same ones which Klopp received when signing his own contract.

Thanks for that. If these stats are accurate, they show no players played 40 games, 7 played 30+, 6 played 20-29 and 13 played 1-20.

LOL, you're looking in wrong column. Alisson started 54 games...

Pretty clear who's in our preferred XI.

I think both Klopp (when signing a new deal) and Bellingham have already gotten those. Henry said so himself a few days ago that there will be funds available. My guess is quite a lot.

I do too. Big money from last season, less outlay on capital items and no longer paying for big fees from previous signings. A lot of cash available.
