Pretty clear who's in our preferred XI.

No, it isn't. You're right that I got the wrong column but, out of the players still at the club: 3 played 50+ times, 5 played 40-49 times, 3 played 30-39 and 6 played 20-29. That's clearly a wider spread than you're alleging.

Rice and Bellingham would surely be an attractive prospect to both players. They’d complement each other beautifully and establish themselves as the National side axis for the next 6 years.

It’d also give us a perfectly balanced midfield 2 or 3 (with Badger).

I'm fairly confident on Bellingham, but you'd feel Rice would favor to stay in London. Both Arsenal and Chelsea will be in for him.

I do too. Big money from last season, less outlay on capital items and no longer paying for big fees from previous signings. A lot of cash available.
If’n I were Liverpool I’d not go around broadcasting that we’ve got a limitless pot of money to spend. I’d be pleading dirt poverty.

This column you are quoting is showing the matches played. They include substitute appearances. The column to the right is the number of starts...

London stinks of piss.
This is plainly true

BTW, the posted "rumour" that caused the last two pages of comments on Rice was Did Hamman saying Liverpool should sign him ... if people are interpreting that as a link, and knowing Didi hates Jurgen, then god help them

I'd bet a sizeable sum that Klopp's believed for some time that we need to make the kind of change he refers to in those last two paragraphs, i.e.loosen the pursestrings, but hasn't been able to say so because he knew the owners wouldn't consider it. The way this season's going means they'll have to now.

Whatever it was, Klopp’s now publicly acknowledged that we need to change rather than reel off a list of the midfielders we have as had did in the summer. Or be outraged that we write off footballers after 30 despite the advances in sports science. He’s a great bloke and will sort it out but he needs to be convinced.

Possibly, but I wonder how much of what he said then was conditioned by what he knew the owners would want him to say, in public at least.

I know but we’ll be in the realm of speculation and that’s only good for generating heat nor light. For me, the most important thing is that we’ve admitted we need to change.

We are not being linked to him ut certainly hearing his name pop=up. He can play in the LB or RB role or even RW

"I am optimistic when John is optimistic, because that’s his business!" Klopp said on Friday. "I am not involved in the search for investors. Not yet! That would be funny! I did it at Dortmund once, but who cares? My job is to make sure we make it 100 percent clear what we need from a sports point of view, and then other people are responsible for giving us the resources or whatever.

"We played five years in a row in the Champions League and went through to the final three times which is massive from a money point of view. We built a stand and a training ground, the club is in a really good place, but around us, a few people are speeding up, and we cannot ignore these kind of things. It’s still about finding the right kind of players. It’s not about ‘a lot’ [of signings], it’s about the right ones. Thank God in the world of football there are a lot of ‘right' players'. Not all of them are affordable or want to come, but there are a lot of really good players out there. And that’s it."

That's pretty strong by Jurgens standards. Basically saying the club used the unprecedented financial success he brought to invest in all of the various infrastructure while allowing us to be overtaken on the pitch.

Hes putting down a marker in my opinion, if he's not given funds this summer he will walk and he's letting everybody know it's on John Henry.

He’s recognised what most had seen and talked about from the end of last season. And, to be fair to him, he had to give his players a chance to prove they longer cut it at the top; that’s just how he operates.

Klopp saying in his presser we need to get going on players regardless of where we are in table now, and need to spend regardless of CL footy.
Encouraging.

Encouraging until we get to the summer, after milner, elliott and bajcetic save our season and get us conference league. Then it'll be "well our midfields fixed"
