Summer rebuild 2023

Let's see who offers what for whom?
1st port of call is to get the replacements for MF players we know are leaving.
Then we look at driftwood and underperformers. Ignoring budgets, lets say we get 3 MF, that enough there to alter the team. In terms of deadwood -Gomez and CJ are higher up that list. So if someone doesn't offer decent money for Fab, I'd keep for another year in the hope he recovers his form or he stays on the bench.
@binomial didn't you say that the asking price for Barella would be nowhere near £70m? Well, news reports has it Inter want over £70m.
Yes BB, I reckon Inter would sell for 50-55m

They like a player swap (plus cash deal) dont they? So many a cheeky 30m plus Fab.

There's loads of rumours going around. I largely trust Klopp in the players he identifies so I'm not hugely bothered who (and knowing loads of names are people i've never heard of). For me as long as there are at least 2 CBs and 2 CMs we will be in a better place. Would love one of those to be a marquee signing, whether it be a Rice/Bellingham in the middle, or mega CB signing. But we are in a hard place of needing both quantity and quality.

Liverpool announce club-record revenues in latest accounts

Wow.... I would seriously be disappointed if we got Kante.

Kante for me is another Thiago.....not in terms of playing style obvs, but luxury players we really can't afford to integrate into this squad....ageing, injury prone and on ridiculous wages.

Like him but he is another 30 something plus... There are younger options out there

I would too - but we need to buy players in the 20-24 range who are young, with no injury record and ready to build Klopp's next great machine.
I'd happily replace Kante for Fabs though.

There is nothing wrong with adding a certain player on a free that is outside the 20-24 age group. Its all about the right fit and the right player.

Do not buy players over 27!

I agree that this is the best strategy. But, there is always a but. If the right player is available at the right price - you should always consider making a move.
Utd bought a 31 year old Casemiro and he has transformed their team this season. Financially its not a deal we would have made, but the player would definitely have been a massive improvement in our team as well.

Probably have, just don't mention it again. Please.

I've already had to digest fans wanting Ramsey and Olise.....JWP is about as bad as it gets.

Never. Never ever do it. You start muddying the waters. Don’t be wanking off over a player who looks an exception after 6 months. Long term it won’t work.

You dont do it long term, and for the record I wouldnt sign a 31 year old. But a 27 year old on a 3 year deal. Hell yeah.

How much will Kelleher fetch?

[article]Emmanuel Petit has called on Tottenham to make a move for Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher. The goalkeeping department is one area the Lilywhites will be looking at ahead of the 2023/24 campaign following a number of high-profile errors from Hugo Lloris so far this term.

The Frenchman came under fire back in January after spilling a routine Bukayo Saka cross over his own line in the North London Derby defeat vs Arsenal, with the player also at fault for Emi Buendia's goal in their loss at home to Aston Villa two weeks earlier. Having turned 36 on Boxing Day and coming towards the end of his glittering career, Spurs need to look towards to future and try and find their long-term successor to Lloris, who is currently on the sidelines through injury, this summer.

As his former club Chelsea are well stocked between the sticks, Petit believes that Tottenham would be a perfect fit for Liverpool's Kelleher, who he has called upon to move to N17 "if he wants to cement his own legacy".

"Caoimhin Kelleher should consider a move away, however Chelsea still have two keepers in [Edouard] Mendy and Kepa [Arrizabalaga]," said Petit when speaking to Boyle Sports. "A club that he would fit in perfectly is Tottenham. Hugo Lloris is 36, he has had a few injuries and has retired from the national team, he is not the future anymore.

"[Fraser] Foster is also 34, so Tottenham may need a refresh in that department. Kelleher is 24 years old. In the cup fixtures last season, especially against Chelsea, he was really good. If he wants to cement his own legacy, he should leave and join Tottenham."

Behind Alisson in the pecking order at Anfield, Kelleher has had to make do with three appearances in cup competition for the Reds so far this term. The Irishman was the hero for Liverpool last season after playing his part along the way to Jurgen Klopp's team lifting the Carabao Cup at Wembley.[/article]

15-20m.

Bit more than what Ward went for I reckon, 2nd choice keeper at the end of the day.....you're never gonna get more than bit of pocket change for them.

I really don't want to see Kelleher go, I think he's got what it takes to be first choice for us. I don't understand why we don't send him on a PL loan for at least a season. Gets him the minutes he wants/needs and keeps him on our books.

He's not going to wait around until Ali declines in about 5 years time to be #1 here....he's already waited around long enough.

[article]Liverpool are making a move for Independiente Santa Fe defender Kevin Mantilla.

TMW says Liverpool are targeting Mantilla and are ready to make an offer.

The 19-year-old is viewed as a talented prospect in South America and the Reds are said to be in a battle with Torino, PAOK and FC Porto for Mantilla

But Jürgen Klopp's side are ready to offer €4m to acquire the defender's signature before the summer market swings open.

But Independiente Santa Fe are said to be 'asking for more'.[/article]
