Baines will be 29 this year. Everton want more than 13M for him. That's madness for someone entering the last few years of top flight pedigree, and who isn't a marked improvement on evra as far as I'm concerned.
Baines and Fellaini. The Utd fans must be dancing with joy.
let's not tempt fate, they could sign the udinese chap as well...
Christ, I actually thought Baines was a few years younger than that. Nevertheless, he certainly offers a lot more than Evra given his stats over the past few seasons.
SUNDERLAND have failed with a renewed bid for Greek winger Charis Mavrias after completing the sale of James McClean.
Republic of Ireland international McClean today finalised his switch to relegated Wigan for an undisclosed fee, thought to be around the £2million mark.
But Sunderland have wasted little time in trying to land a replacement, with Greek side Panathinaikos confirming they have rejected an offer of a season-long loan for Mavrias.
The Black Cats agreed a £2.5million fee for Mavrias last month, yet the deal fell through after a series of delays.
But after seeing their coffers boosted by the sale of McClean, Sunderland have looked to boost their options out wide with a loan move for the Greek international.
Cash-strapped Panathinaikos are only interested in a permanent deal though and Sunderland will have to reprise their cash offer if they want to land the 19-year-old.
Queens Park Rangers have agreed a deal with Estudiantes for striker Duvan Zapata, Sky Sports understands.
Rangers have been locked in talks with the Argentine club over a deal for the highly-rated Colombian striker.
West Ham had previously struck a deal before pulling out earlier this summer, while other clubs from around Europe such as Italians Napoli and Sassuolo, French side Evian and Spaniards Atletico Madrid have all shown an interest in recent weeks.
However, Rangers have now managed to broker a deal for Zapata worth $10million (£6.4million).
Zapata is now due to arrive in England over the weekend to finalise personal terms and undergo a medical.
The 22-year-old, who is expected to be part of Colombia's squad for next year's World Cup finals, will then need a work-permit - which will have to go to appeal.
QPR are hopeful that Zapata will be granted the move under the 'special talent' ruling.

Sevilla midfielder Gary Medel is on the brink of a move to Cardiff City, according to a report in Diario ABC.
The newspaper claims the Chilean international has already agreed terms with the newly-promoted Welsh club and there remains only the fine details of his contract to be sorted out before a move to the Premier League.
It is understood that Cardiff have placed a €13m offer on the table for the 26-year-old, who was bought from Boca Juniors in January 2011 for €3m.
Should Medel’s transfer come to fruition, Sevilla are believed to have already lined up two replacements in Corinthians’ Ralf – valued at between €6m and €7m – and Carlos ‘The Rock’ Sanchez of Valenciennes, a player who is also interesting Elche and Malaga.
Chelsea right-back Wallace joins Inter Milan on loan
Inter Milan have signed Chelsea right-back Wallace on a season-long loan, the Serie A side have announced.
The 19-year-old made his senior debut at Fluminense and signed for Chelsea earlier this year before being loaned back to the Brazilian club.
Wallace impressed on Chelsea's pre-season tour to Asia but with chances of a work permit in England remote, Blues boss Jose Mourinho was keen to loan him out in Europe for further experience.
Mourinho's former club Inter have taken up the option.
An announcement on their official website, http://www.inter.it, read: "FC Internazionale welcomes Wallace Oliviera dos Santos to the club.
"The paperwork on the Brazilian defender's loan move to Inter from Chelsea has been completed and the documents submitted to the Lega Serie A."
Chelsea later confirmed Wallace's move to Italy on their official website.
