1. we have major problem passing due to stoke's grass. you can say stoke all needed to deal with the long grass but when they scored all the had to do from then on was defend.

2. henderson really should have done better with his chance, I thought the follow up shot was handball, need to see that again.

3. johnson was brought back too early, kenny doesn't really have a choice as kelly is injuried and flan too inexperienced.

4. adam's passing was all over the place today (in a bad way) the grass didn't help but hewas giving the ball away all game.

5. carroll should have started this game.
I think carroll will be a major asset away from home but he needs to start, you don't want to desend to stoke's level but with the pitch being so piss poor it might have been an idea to be a little more direct and fight for the 2nd ball in ther box.

Spidey we dominated possession without Carroll AWAY FROM HOME OMG!!!!!!!!

I thought that was impossible

We played okay but gave away a dumb penalty through bad defending.

That said it was a retrievable situation but 100m spent and we are essentially reliant one one super talent up front as we were a couple years back.

We did dominate possession but I would have been happier if the domination was in and around stoke's penalty box

we are fucking tragic. we always win a couple of games and the players start mumbling about a title challenge but that we'll take it one game at a time etc etc

we ALWAYS lose the next game.

Against Arsenal Carroll had six possessions in and around the Arsenal box, he lost possession four times, had one successful pass and on attempt on goal.

Against Bolton he had the four possessions in and around the box, he put one shot wide and played two successful short passes backwards.

I'm not entirely sure he would have made any difference in that respect today based on his previous.

And in that regard he had three touches in and around the box today, a blocked shot and one successful pass.

Magic

Well kenny is the one who chooses the team but I would play Carroll in every away game, I get why he isn't starting at home but away from home he's got to play or why bother buying him at all?

Also I think bellemymis going to force his way up the pecking order as he is that good a player.
Wouldn't surprise me if he's a regular starter soon.

Nope wouldn't surprise me at all. He and Suarez understood each other it seemed.

You don't buy players specifically to play in either home or away games.
ding ding ding.

Carroll isn't playing anywhere because he's been shit so far.

Suarez will love playing with Bellamy. Dont understand why people seem to think he'll just be an impact player for us.

Carroll's having a torrid time, Kuyt usually takes a few months to get going. There's every chance Bellamy will get plenty of match time.

My only concern(up top) is we still lack a real poacher. Hopefully Suarez starts taking his chances.

For the first time in his career, Carragher really fucked me off today. Absolutely pathetic performance.

From start to finish the goal was down to carra

1. He needlessly hoofed the ball up field conceding possession for no reason
2. He wasn't in line with the other defenders so played the Stoke player onside
3. Was out of position so was on the wrong side of the defender to make a clean challenge

A shocking goal to conceed from absolutely nothing

Possession 73% vs 27%
Shots 24 (7) vs 3 (1 - the penalty)
Corrners 12 vs 2
Saves 0 - 7

We didn't need Carroll. We just needed some cool heads (Henderson, Adam & Suarez) or the penalty we should have been given (Upton).

Carroll should have started, he might not score but would free up some space for Suarez.

It was easy to defend against us because it was all Suarez. Kuyt, Downing and Henderson are not the natural goal threat, all they need to do is mark Suarez out of the game and we're fucked.

Hope to see Carroll in the next game so that it will take some pressure off Suarez.

Stoke played really well. I don't get this 'anti-football' shite. We've done it in the past. You do what you have to do to win and Stoke do it extremely well. Dalglish put confidence in his side that battered Bolton, but he really should have altered his line-up.

I thought Lucas was good. Really, really good. Impressed.

Henderon needs benching. He's too conservative in possession. Our right side was fucking shit today.

Carragher's made two big mistakes in two games now. He couldn't complain if he was benched next match.

If it wasn't for the fucking shit play from Carragher Stoke couldn't have parked the bus as much, especially from home.

It's time.

I have to agree with Wilko on this. We got more desperate once we conceded and Stoke started defending 10 players.

They would have parked the bus anyway, Stoke would have seen a point as a good result

Dominating possession without goals means sweet fuck all. We are struggling to convrert and we had a few easy chances in the last few games where we fluffed them all.

The lads need to improve and double quick too. Spurs will have their tails up after their first win. We need to show a lot more bottle and improvement to get the points.
