Some people are going to stupid lengths to write him off after 9 games aswell. Even saying we should have bought him 4yrs ago, despite the fact he hit the best form in his career last season.

He's never going to be "brilliant", granted, but he can provide goals and assists for us, as he's proven with lesser sides, it'd help if half his team mates would stop bricking it infront of goal.
 
And some people moan like broken records about everything. its getting boring tbh. This forum is filled with people that just wait for new players to start misfiring so they can gloat about how they said this would happen.

I'm not saying that tbh Onky, I' saying comparing his signing to Aguero, Mata and world class players is wrong. They didnt want come here. Everyone knows we overpaid, but that was bound to happen since Kenny wanted him.

And you're out of your mind if you seriously think there are a hundred better players out there that wanted to come here.

Shaqiri is a good example though, I'd love hime here. Could be a great pick up in january/next summer.
 
I think it's actually those that rush to defend him that end up bringing up world class talents as the come back is always something along the line of "well, we couldn't very well go and get Aguero, Mata et al".

Half the time those saying we shouldn't have signed have simply said we could've done better and for the money I think we're all pretty much in agreement that we could've done.

Heh, and then when asked who, the response is usually Mata. I'm not saying we couldnt have gotten better players for the sum we paid for Downing. Of course we could. But, at that time who were available and who would have joined us. Several teams have money to burn now, and a player like Cazorla is on nearly 150k a week at Malaga.

Its not all cut and dry that we could pick and chose from a list of class players.

At the moment Nunez but according to some on here its hard to judge a player after 9 fucking games and they are sure Downing can turn it around and became better winger than he is now.
