Sterling

hmmm, id prefer him to get some games in the first team, but if he sends him to a decent epl side it can only be good

He really said he's going to assess him over the next few weeks and then make a decision on whether to use him in the first team now or send him on loan. Hopefully he takes his chance, starting tonight.

I don't like all this loan business, get him in the team/bench

We need to do one right though - which we haven't.

Maybe It's a "show us yer goodenuff" statement - but a o e year loan to Swansea might be a good thing.

Where did you hear this?

That's a shame, I'd have liked him to force his way into the team.

I'm not against loans at all but I'd only do it til Xmas for Sterling, personally. He's that close, and we're that short of his kind player, that any longer and we really risk missing out ourselves.

Scrap that, actually. Between EL games, the nextgen, and sub appearances, I actually think he really is ready to play a part. If it hasn't worked out to January, *then* send him on loan.

Wouldn't mind him and the likes of Shelvey going out on loan to some Championship club challenging for promotion. Owen Coyle has done pretty well in getting young loanees to perform.

Shelvey and sterling are too good for the championship

Definitely. Like I say, we should keep them for now just because of the early rounds of the cup competitions. If it's not happening for them for whatever reason loan them to PL clubs after xmas.

Players I'd be looking to loan straight away:

Ngoo
Silva
Wilson
Flanagan
Coady
Adorjan

Maybe one or two others who escape me lool

Because I deemed him so

I think he could be great for a wigan/Swansea/lower table side.

I think he'd be a great impact sub for us this season, but he needs to play consistently.

I'd rather they play 40 odd games in the Championship than less than half of that in the Premier League. Ideally, they'll remain with the 1st team and feature as squad players and in Europa and cup games.

I'd love to see us impose a under 26 year old rule on the Europa cup to begin with, like Spurs kinda did, give the youngsters some proper games.

I don't know anything about him, just interested. Is this based on his youth performances or reserve outings?

The Championship is a decent standard and, don't forget, Swansea were only 3 places and 5 points below us; not sure they're clamouring to be our feeder club or help us raise youth players.

I'm sure if he's as good as you say, and Rodgers thinks he can handle it, he'll feature.

Talent and direct. It's exactly what we need IMO. It's what I've seen in next gen, reserves and the few times he's featured for us in the first team. He's a beast.

I think Rodgers will keep him for the season.

No, he really said hes not ready for the first team. Here's the link to the story on the official site.

Yes, I know he said that. I actually read the story, which is why I know that in the same piece he expands on and qualifies that initial statement: "He has certainly shown qualities and we'll decide over the next few weeks whether he stays and he's involved now or if he goes for a loan period. That's a decision for me over the next few weeks."

The actual loan thing is good, we're just shite at it because we send players to the wrong leagues. If he goes to a Premiership minnow, that will be more than ideal, we can see what he does on 'this' stage.

I'm a bit sceptical. He needs to learn to play Rodgers' style of football. If he goes to another club on loan, which ones would want him who play that way? I'm not convinced playing games at a lower level and probably in a different style would help him to advance more steadily than working with Borrell in the ressies whilst, as Vlad suggests, getting a few well-chosen games for the first team, including Europa outings.

Hopefully his first 20 mins tonight will show Mr Rogers that sending him out on loan is wrong. The las needs to be with 1st team, would easily make bench. If he is t ahead of downing then I'll just stop watching football

He's not going to play any games for the first team, so going on loan is a great idea.

Do we really need to reel out the list of young players that have gone on loan in the last 2 years from Arsenal, Utd, Spurs and Chelsea to better effect?

It's a great way of finding out if he can cut it at senior level, and it'd advance his development far quicker than fucking around with us in the reserves.

Some of you are far too fucking precious.

I thought Sterling was generally poor in today's game. He gave the ball away so many times and seemed to be tripping over the ball at every turn. I was pleased for him with the assist but he's some way off starting eleven material.
