Nothing wrong with being 5'6" (says JJ, all of 5'6" and a quarter).

Agree with most above about Spearing. He's our best bet back there for now, but we're gonna need better than him as first team regulars to win the title again.

I always had you down as really tall. And stately.

Tall? Afraid not, though an unexpected growth spurt when I was 14 placed me among the taller kids in my class for a single glorious year.

Stately? That's for others to decide. All I'll say is that I tend not to be when we're playing. 😉

Yeah, I now feel a bit like Dorothy when she pulled back the curtain.

I've also always felt that if I met you in person, I would feel compelled to call you 'sir'.

I've always liked the lad and his size doesn't prevent him from making some really crunching tackles.

Very good engine, decent passing range and bags of room for improvement. He'll never be a superstar but a decent squaddie he is already.

That wouldn't last long, I can assure you. ;D

This.

Haven't seen him in reserves level. Just wondering how his performances at that level was compared to other midfield graduates like Potter and Guthrie?

From what I remember of Potter and Guthrie, Spearing is looking the better player and certainly a far bigger influence overall.

Cheers KHL, nice to hear. Spearing and Kelly has brought back memories of the days of Welsh, Raven and Mellor etc (group of academy lads being touted for success - even though they didn't make it eventually)

I've seen Spearing, Potter, Guthrie & Welsh play on-loan in The Championship and Spearing was the only one who stood out. He's better than the other 3 and IMO the only one of them good enough for the EPL.
