I always am optimistic at the beginning of the season, though I don't believe we have enough currently to challenge for 4th ... I look forward to seeing some more kids break into the 1st team on a more consistent basis and Rodgers' philosophy get implemented while bringing results. I think we'll be better than last year, and maybe surprise.
A good run in the first 5 games (4 wins and a draw/loss) and we could have a very strong season.

If we get Allen and another striker/creative wide forward, then I will be infinitely more optimistic than I thought I would be going into the season.

I think that this will be the most competitive season of the premier league in ages, and that every team will drop points as a result.
I think if we can start alright and improve fast enough, we'll be in the mix for a top 4 finish.
Oh and the kids, I think a couple of em (Sterling, Morgan) are going to do us proud at times this year.

My hope died with Aqua, Suso and Pacheco. But it's not really about them, it's more about what they somewhat represent. One-touch passing, movement, technique, dribbling etc.

I always look forward to a new season and i'm excited to see how Rodgers will have us playing. However, personally speaking, expectations are probably as low as i can ever remember, and that includes Hodgson's time with us because we still had Gerrard and Reina in their prime and we still had Torres.
I just don't have any confidence in this current squad - too many poor to average footballers, there's no real balance or skill to it and generally it needs about 4 or 5 top players to give us a chance of competing for 4th place.

We've been on a downward curve since 08/09, we've a massive wage bill and a squad that doesn't live up to it. I just don't see any success in the league until we shed most of the current bad contracts. And there are a lot.
I believe a team can win the league with a wage bill of 110m if it's spent right. We can easily manage that amount of wages adds once its allocated effectively I think we can win the league. Not every year, but we should be able to do it every now again. I'd say about 40% of our wage bill provides no value on the pitch during the season.

He's resting them (bar Aqua) for the Premier League, and just letting these squad players complete the job in Europe. 😉
I thought last year's first team needed 4 or 5 new faces to improve it significantly and I don't think we're going to get that. I do however expect improvement tactically and in terms of the football we are playing.
I think we'll come 6th, look good in spells and not be 1000 points off the top of the table like last year. And I think that would be a step in the right direction, much loftier ambitions are unrealistic.
