I'm gutted you've said that, gutted, honest. Better than being a complete joke I guess.
I think potential managers are looking in and seeing that we've just sacked the clubs biggest icon despite him reaching 2 cup finals in one season. Added to the fact our fans have huge expectations, our owners appear to have little patience and the new gaffer has a budget smaller than his rivals its just not an attractive proposition at all.
Takes one to know one I guess.

No-one knows our budget, but the rest is true enough. But if you want the best, you certainly don't ask them to enter a demeaning competition. If Rodgers isn't prepared to risk his standing with the Swansea support, why the hell would de Boer do so, with a title-winning historic club?

According to reports - obviously we don't know how true they are, but it doesn't matter really, they are still out there - we are interviewing loads of people. So that just looks like they have gone for pretty much anyone.
If a manager wants to talk to Liverpool then surely he would have to go to his present employer and ask for permission. That is a risk at the best of times, given that he might not get the job and would then have to go back to his club and the fans and admit that he wanted to leave. Probably a risk worth taking if there are 2 or 3 in the frame. Less so if there are 12 or 13!

Agreed, but the process is trying to get the very best or most suitable candidate, if people are worried about their own abilities being questioned or lack the self belief that they are good enough for the job, then fuck'em.

I think there's a lot of conjecture masquerading as evidence on here and other forums though. We don't really know anything that's going on behind the scenes, bar the company line that we "have a strategy and plan in place". To be fair to FSG, this is their first real opportunity to wipe the slate clean and implement their thinking on the club as a whole, something we're quite possibly well in need of.
Bar that twat Whelan spouting off about us contacting Wigan requesting permission to speak with Martinez within minutes, we've little else to go other than internet rumours, SSN exclusives and the usual faces in football media jostling for an ITK badge. FSG have kept their own counsel.
For what it's worth, I reckon we've got 1 or 2 definites in mind, but won't announce anything until our DOF (whichever form that takes) is in place, so as not to immediately undermine the new manager with an appointment over his head. All this "12 candidates" lark is media bollocks. What better for SSN than to be able to constantly headline that "Liverpool turned down by yet another candidate", even though we haven't confirmed that we've approached anybody?
