So who do we want/expect/hope?

AVB would be a massive gamble. Whoever we go with is a massive gamble. We threw the dice when we sacked Kenny. Now it's about making an informed decision based on the information available. Lambert is a fascinating man with an excellent knowledge base, and the kind of person who would relish a long-term project like Liverpool. He also seems very ambitious - he said in an interview that he believed Norwich could win any game they participated in. If he brings that same positivity to a bigger club, with better players, it should stand him in good stead.

I'm sure he's competent as are others on the 'list'.

The problem is that Liverpool is not a 'long-term' project.

We have owners who have shown they want instant success.

The owners expectations are even more short term than ours.

What manager worth their salt is going to accept a 1 or possibly 2 season window to relaunch the club?

Guillem Balague ‏@GuillemBalague
Another manager approached by LFC: Frank de Boer (@frankronald1970). He said no but this is the calibre FSG is looking for. FSG might insist

Rafa Benitez has not been approached by Liverpool and I believe there is no plan to do it for now
=Biased FSG/FSG advisers as predicted.

FSG might insist? What the fuck they gonna do, kidnap his family?

you don't know that, you're speculating. roy was the manager when they arrived (so not their guy) and they were pretty much bullied into keeping kenny after his initial successful 6 months.

Although I disagree with the Interview/selection process we are using, its disheartening to think managers with limited experience are knocking us back

I haven't seen anyone turn us down yet.

I'm not saying Frank would be on the plane within the hour if we offered the position but they've not turned down any offering. They don't want to be used as a stalking horse in the process of FSG locating a new manager.

I hope that someone still goes to speak to De Boer cause there aren't any other cadidates that fit the bill thus far IMO.

chelsea debacle aside what makes de boer better than AVB? serious question.

Anyway dont wanna go round in circles, look forward to August 31st when silly season is over with

I'm not going round in circles. Kenny got us to the final of every cup competition we entered last season. The league season was shite I agree. But the cups weren't enough for you but in the same breath you're extoling the virtues of a a manager who did worse in the league than his predecessor but did well in the cups which smacks of hypocrisy. You wanted Kenny out, like others, and I suggested another year would have been the pragmatic way forward. Anyway, what's done is done. I've said be careful what you wish for and we'll get who we get now but I'm going to be like a demented monkey on the back of those who wanted Kenny out if the new guy turns out worse.

And, quelle surprise he's still fucking moaning. So maybe it wasn't Kenny after all, maybe someone needs a hug.

He has a twin. He can be in two places at once with sibling telepathy

One could be talking to the assistant ref and the other could sneak into the away dressing room and put clingfilm over the toilet

That's a half time game changer that

I think we should have a 'guest manager' structure.

Just have a pre and post Christmas appointee with an option if things go well.

Also I wonder if they're going to drop the bombshell that whomever is appointed will be filmed documentary style on Fox on a daily basis.

Somebody said we're a joke, they're right. Dignity and the 'Liverpool Way' yeah right, shots of training ground bust-ups, close ups of players with earphones, them small pouffe bags they carry, the new Manager asking where the canteen is, chalk boards and canteen ladies etc etc

'Kin ell

Come on mate, you know they could insist - I hope they do. De Boer might say no but you insist it keeps the option alive and, gives everyone a base for negotiations etc. It's not a force the hand but while Ajax are a club of huge history a chance to manage LFC and have a good bargaining position from the off isn't going to come along every day.

And if he proves to be a sucess will you finally shut the fuck up at this point scoring?

Doubt it.

Oh FFS

Everyone just shut up about kenny. Rightly or wrongly the man has been sacked so point scoring at a moment when we don't have a manager is just plain old silly.

Wait until next season!!

Funny that he can't see the direct correlation between what he posted about Kenny and what he's posting now. Kenny was a disaster, blah blah, now we're fucking amateurs, blah blah and it's all one big fuck off disaster.

Who's next? The tea in the canteen looks like dishwater!

the taste is even worse.

That's a big ask Fabio.
To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if they posters who wanted Kenny out will be among the first to have a go at the new manager, whoever he will be and they ones loyal to Kenny to be among the last.

I don't know why people think we'd have our choice of managers any way. If ever there's a poisoned managerial chalice it's us. We're just not that attractive a proposition any more

I honestly think it is the process that is dissuading people. If LFC targeted De Boer, said, 'you're our only man, we'll back you to the hilt', there would be every chance he'd come. Risk his standing to be interviewed alongside a bunch of people, and risk coming second to the current Wigan manager? Nah, I can see why he'd say thanks, but no thanks.
