So who do we want/expect/hope?

Terrible post. It's precisely because I am one, that I won't accept mediocrity.

So, are the 30,000 Citeh fans that went to Maine Road every other week when the team was in League 1, not "real fans" ?

What about the 50,000+ that stayed with The Scum when they went down ?

You're sounding like a Fair Weather Follower.

"Ooh, we're not in the Champions' League, so I'll go make model ships !"

Behave.

Benitez moved to Valencia from Segunda Division Tenerife (having earned promotion from finishing 3rd).

Unai Emery moved from relegation battlers Almeria (having overachieved with them) to Valencia too and he has got Valencia winning the (so called) 'other league' in Spain for couple of seasons despite lost of big names.

Jurgen Klopp arrived at Dortmund having left Mainz after failure to guide them back into top flight (having gone through both promotion and relegation with them). His winning percentage of 40% with Mainz is akin to the winning percentage of Roy Hodgson's time with Fulham, us and WBA.

Frank Rijkaard suffered relegation with Sparta Rotterdam and got fired before his reign with Barcelona.

Massimiliano Allegri's Cagliari was 10th and 12th (when he left in Apr 2010) with win percentage of 37.5% before he moved to AC Milan. His other achievement prior to that was promotion to Serie B via winning the Serie C1/A league title.

Antonio Conte had no top flight experience and his only achievement was winning the Serie B with Bari and promotion as runners-up with Siena. In the midst of these 2 jobs, he got the sack from Atalanta too.

Rene Girard who recently won the Ligue 1 title with Montpellier was with the national youth teams for the past 11 yrs, while his only club management experiences did not yield any notable success/achievement.

Of cos its understandable to hope/expect for a bigger name but to write off the likes of Martinez and/or underestimate his/their achievement is rather ridiculous.

im just sick of all this speculation now, every time a new piece of info comes out its quashed almost immediately

After 33 years of supporting the club, I can safely say that's not what I am about. I just think we can and should do better. I hope I am wrong.

Any appointment would be a calculated gamble. Even Mourinho who always wants a big budget wouldn't be able to guarantee us success. We need rebuilding, that's evident.

Its pointless complaining about who we haven't got, support who we have. Localny is fickle. He'll be keeping an eye on Liverpool's results regardless of how pissed off he is. Don't waste your energy hating, start appreciating.

Welcome aboard Roberto, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Make it work and take us back to the top.

YNWA!

if Martintez is appointed, I can't support this club, and I can't support this manager.

Hodgson Part 2. Another uninspiring appointment. Won't attract players, won't get us in CL.

oh dear what a shocker, what did Barca fans say when Pep turned up.

"Fuck me he has never managed a club before, no experience in europe I am going to support someone else" ( but in spanish)

Have a word fella, past jobs mean fuck all in management. Pardew finished way ahead of Kenny this season, he got sacked from Southampton !!!!!

If you can't see the diference between:

"I just think we can and should do better"

and..

"if Martintez is appointed, I can't support this club"

I don't know what else to say to you.

I don't think they speak Spanish, Fox.

Not sure why everyone is attacking LocalNY, he's entitled to his opinion.
'I cant support this club'
Is not an opinion.
I honestly think its one of the most staggering things ive read on here.
Has he not seen the man in a suit ffs?

Fair point mate, fair point, just frustrated when better candidates seem available.

Lots of people are disappointed LNY. But then its a sliding scale of what you believe to be 'good enough'
Where would you draw the line? Pardew? Rodgers? or just Martinez?

All this bullshit about other shit managers doing better than people expected... They're the exception.

Benitez did better than expected at Valencia AND THEN we took him. That's how the food chain works. Huge clubs don't take stupid fucking risks on dreary fucking managers like Martinez.

And even if they do... and ok you could look at Milan this year, they've got DoFs in place. What's the point in getting a DoF now? To fire Martinez at Christmas while the lizards are at the baseball. It's certainly not to develop a philosophy is it?

fuck you guys going for a pint, im stuck in the library trying to revise but reading all the fuckin "will they/wont they" hysteria of henry and robbie, its like im stuck in one of those godforsaken friends marathons on e4

Understand your frustration mate, we all want the best for this club.Alas, as is with the case of players, there are so many other factors involved. Are they willing to come or leave their current job? Are they willing to work within the budget? Are they willing to work within the management structure? Are they willing to work on a project that'll take time etc.
