Yes, best all round performance of the season. Coutinho and Joe Allen had their best ever games. Skrtel, Hendrson, Lallana, Can, Moreno all very good. Only downsides were Markovic (I've never seen what many of you have seen in him) and Lovren. How we missed Sakho atbthe back today...his absence made Mignolet nervous again.

All in all though, superb performance and once again...great credit to Rodgers. Thank goodness we didn't sack him eh?

Credit were credits due. Thought Lovren was excellent.
Made up for him after Thursdays penalty miss and general shitness

I wouldn't say he was excellent - there were a couple of moments when a positional error or an over-eagerness to commit into a tackle (e.g. the Aguero chance) definitely created heart-in-mouth moments. In the main though, he did well and continues his improvement, which is good to see. He played a few simple passes into the centre to an open Coutinho or Allen, to immediately turn and start an attack, so he definitely can look up and pick a good pass or two as well.

Encouraging signs of progress again.

Boss game that and a throughly deserved win. Do you know what..... I really enjoyed that! Looking forward to MOTD and next weekend where I'll be at the game with @Brizzle and @Lippy - Hopefully see some of you fine folk down the Harry. 🙂

Another thing - if Rodgers was slow in adjusting the game plan against Besiktas, he was certainly very quick and decisive in doing it here. After Sturridge came on, Lallana switched to RWB, but I thought he looked uncomfortable there and couldn't cope. When Moreno was taken off for Toure shortly after, I expected Can to be pushed into the middle with Sterling and Lallana as wing backs. Instead, Rodgers went with Can as RWB and switched Lallana to LWB, and left the rest untouched. That quickly solidified the right. On both flanks, Can and Lallana both pushed up with Lallana especially aggressively so, that we basically had City pinned back.

Was an interesting switch I thought. I don't know if things would've been different had City had more time on the clock to probe and exploit the weaknesses on our flanks, but in that period of time after our adjustments, we looked comfortable.

Lovren looked nervy today but held up ok overall. He has been muck this year but hopefully can play himself into a bit of form. Could tell Ming was not as comfortable behind him though.

Well, Coutinho not playing Thursday seems to have worked out nicely in terms of the league anyway!

Great performance all round, Markovic frustrates the fuck out of me going forwards, but he worked hard regardless.

I hope he's gonna be a second season player for us, he certainly has the attributes to be a success.

@Pesam bet on us to win the league looking good! 500/1 kidda GWAN
The odds have halved since the wins over Saints/City. An injury or two for the Chavs today (Hazard, Ivanovic, Terry etc) and I'll start to sniff blood 🙂

Haha we were better in the first than we were in the 2nd!

The defence was all over the shop 1st, and we were inviting pressure, they had more possession. 2nd half we played most of the game in their half, dominated them, had a massive amount of possession and were unlucky not to score another 2 or 3 more.
If you thought we were better in the 1st than 2nd you must have been watching a different game to me. But I'm not going to argue on a day when we spanked the champions 🙂
