Apparently Lucas will be "rested" so I'm really looking forward to this game, it feels like ages since we started a match without him.

Italian midfielder Alberto Aquilani is set for his full Liverpool debut in Wednesday's clash with Fiorentina.
Striker Fernando Torres returns from a groin injury but starts on the bench, while goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri comes in for the rested Jose Reina.
With the Reds not making the knockout stages, boss Rafael Benitez is likely to give his fringe players some action.
Dirk Kuyt could sit out and reserve striker Daniel Pacheco could be involved at some stage of the match.
It will be a welcome start for Aquilani, who signed from Roma in the off-season for £20m, but has made only three late substitute appearances since October because of an ankle injury.

"We decided we couldn't take any risks with him. It wouldn't have been good for him or us," Benitez said about the delay to starting his midfielder in the first team.
"We will take care of him and he will be ready. We wanted to protect him and give him the best opportunity to play well. Hopefully Wednesday will be the day."
Fiorentina have already progressed to the knockout stages, along with Lyon, leaving the five-time European champions competing in the Europa League.
It has been a patchy season so far for Liverpool, who currently lie seventh in the Premier League.
Midfielder Lucas Leiva believes Aquilani is an excellent replacement for playmaker Xabi Alonso - now at Real Madrid - but wants the fans to be patient with his development.
"It is easy to see in training that he has got quality on the ball and we hope he is going to help us," Lucas said.
"People will make comparisons but he is a different player to Xabi. He is more attacking and we can all see that he is going to play in a more advanced role.
"Obviously he came to replace Xabi but he is going to need some time to settle and we will do everything to make that happen quickly."
Spanish star Torres will be returning for the first time since 4 November after recovering from a groin problem.
Liverpool (from): Cavalieri, Johnson, Carragher, Skrtel, Insua, Aquilani, Lucas, Mascherano, Gerrard, Riera, Ngog, Riera, Benayoun, Aurelio, Darby, Spearing, Kelly, Pacheco, Agger.

Pacheco in the squad

It would be silly for Rafa to miss this oppurtunity to play a few kids.
When do we ever have a completely meaningless game like this?
Stick out some kids and reserves and see how they cope against a good side.

I read somewhere that Kelly got injured last night in training, and that Darby would start.

Yeah, you wouldn't want risk Lucas in a meaningless game like this.

What if he got injured and had to miss the Arsenal game? Or the entire season or something?

Cavalieri
Darby
Skrtel
Agger
Insua
Benayoun
Mascherano
Aquilani
Dossena
Gerrard
Ngog

Team for tonight, pretty dissapointed really thought more kids would of got a go.

As long as Pacheco is on the bench I'm happy actually.

Can't wait to see Aquilani tonight.

Oh and the Agger/Skrtel partnership - hopefully they'll start to find somekind of an understanding.

Yeah that would be the end of our title hopes :-X

Dosser at LM then? Oh well. If he IS going to play, that's where he ought to be.
[/quote]

Aurelio will be LM, Dross LB.

Neither good enough, although Dross is simply a useless fat cunt

Aurelio's not on the teamsheet, according to Redshrek's post above.

Either way, let's hope Dossena does enough to interest SOMEBODY back home.

I'd actually prefer Dossena to play at LM compared to LB really.

He'll probably score tonight.

I think that's a decent side under the circumstances. It doesn't help the kids if you throw them in with a load of other kids and reserves. Playing alongside the likes of Agger, Mascherano and Gerrard will be much more useful for them.

Shame about Kelly getting injured again. Will be interested to see if Darby looks like a player or not. I think I might have rested Gerrard and given Riera another run out, with Yossi in the hole - but maybe Gerrard wants to increase his match fitness.

Dossena? Ugh... but as has been said, this is a shop window for Italy, and at least with him playing LM he won't be defensively exposed the way he was against Hull last season.

Above all, I'm desperate to see Aquilani - and pleased that he's starting alongside Mascher rather than any of our other (crap) CMs.

Ciao, Liverpool fans! Come va? I am so happy to finally be able to play with myself for you tonight. It's been so long, eh? You've probably been sitting on your bottoms asking where I am. OK. I tell you a little bit of my time spending since I came here.

First of all, I was lonely, but the club gave me a 'minder' who could help me settle in. He was Daniel Agger. Daniel struck me as a bit of a strange guy at first. He lives in a basement with no lights at all, with the music by a group called Hawkwind playing very loudly at all times. You have to hold a candle to see where you are going. Then he appears, looking so pale and eating some kind of Danish salami stick, and asks Alberto to chill out. Then he was okay! I actually got to quite like this "Silver Machine" song and although I got a headache from all of the smoke in the room it made me feel much more happier to be here.

Daniel has bad back so has to lie down a lot of the time, so we don't go out anywhere together, but I know he is always there for me. Some people in the city say about him when I mention him that "There no smoke without fire". I say to them the opposite is true. Daniel has smoke but no fire. His room is cold but always full of smoke. It is nice-smelling smoke, but I don't know where it come from. I can still smell it on my training top. It reminds me of him when he is not at Melwood, which is often, because he has a bad back.

Then I met my other teammates. Dirk Kuyt is not a pretty man but he is very funny. He told me he is really a striker! He one crazy guy! Lucas is very helpful, he shine my shoe, he carry my bag, he want to help all the time. Yossi and Johnson are molto esotico! Torres is a great striker with lovely hair. I like him a lot. I do not understand Carra at all, but he is always red in the face and excited, which I like.

Our fantastico capo Steven Gerrard has from the very first second been keeping his eyes on me - he sits very close and smiles encouragement as I use the weights. He still sits there and smiles at me even when I am resting and drinking some water! Sometimes, when I am at home and have just showered, he is still there looking through the window, just smiling! It is very kind and most appreciated. He is one hell of a guy!

Our capo di tutti capi Rafa is a good guy. He is always with the "Rest, Alberto," "Sit down, Alberto," "Not today, Alberto". He explain to me that he cannot play me while the team is doing so well, so I accepted that. He assured me he will make sure the team plays so badly I have to play very soon, and he kept his words. He great man!

Even though I have all of this help, I am still a little lonely at the moment, staying in my room a lot and watching a wonderful programme on TV called "Dolmio Day". It is really fantastico! The actors are absolutely superb, and the things they get up to are so hilarious - much funnier than anything on RAI. I sit there and laugh so much I think my head is going to fall off my body! I cannot understand anything else at the moment but I am working hard to improve my English. This show will help. I know that without doubts!

So tonight is a night, as Rod Stewart says! I am so very happy and excited I almost go bang! I look forward to seeing you on the grass and I promise I give you big thrill. Wish me buona fortuna, eh?

Ciao!!

Alberto xxx

Don't mind him he's suffering from a severe case of lucasitis.

Gutted that Kelly is injured.

Gerrard needs to work on his match fitness, so it was a good call to start with him.
Play him for 60-65 mins and put Pacheco on in his place.
