Bit over-dramatic.

dramatised disappointment....

yes

But Rafa is on record saying he will play. So if he does not play, both are history I fear.

what?

what?
two reasons

1) Rafa could have bought a real dud, far worse than Robbie Keaane, therefore he gambled wrongly and lost big

2) Aqua is injured beyond healing and therefore cannot play at the PL level

Both reasons will cause Rafa's downfall I am afraid

But neither is true, regardless of Wednesday's match.
Fair enough, I dunno whether it is true or not until Aqua plays. Wednesday should through out any doubts if not true or confirm our deepest fear.

Just hope what macca says is true, otherwise it really is the end.

My pro-Rafa stance is beginning to waver and although I remain a fan of his I find his continual selection of Lucas mystifying. Also, this weekend with 20 minutes to go would have seemed an ideal time to blood Aquilani and yet he brought on the mediocre El Zhar.

I am quite sure I will be pushed into the Anti-Rafa camp if he does the unthinkable of starting Aquilani against Fiorentina and then benching him again against Arsenal at the weekend. If Aquilani starts against Fior he has to start against Arsenal.

Rafael Benitez today confirmed Alberto Aquilani will make his first Liverpool start in Wednesday's Champions League clash with Fiorentina at Anfield.

An ankle injury has meant the Italy international has been restricted to just three cameo appearances since his summer arrival from Roma.

However, confident Aquilani's fitness concerns are now firmly behind him, Benitez is ready to hand the Reds' new No.4 his full debut.

The boss told Liverpoolfc.tv: "He will start tomorrow. He will do a proper warm-up on his own, and also with the fitness coach, so we will take care of him and he will be ready."

Aquilani has remained on the bench for Liverpool's last two outings against Everton and Blackburn Rovers.

"We decided we couldn't take any risks with him," explained the boss. "It wouldn't have been good for him or us.

"We were always considering playing him (against Blackburn), but when the game is so tight and physical, sometimes it can be worse for the player to play for 10-15 minutes.

"We wanted to protect him and give him the best opportunity to play well. Hopefully Wednesday will be the day.

"He has quality, good vision and is dynamic. It is a question of match fitness, but I think we will see some of these things against Fiorentina.

"If he can carry on training properly and play some games, we will see his quality.

"He is a player with experience at international level, which is important, but he is in a new country with different teammates, so he has to settle down and will need time.

"Each individual is different, but normally players need time."

Absolutely mate. El Zhar had a major injury, and only began full training about 3 weeks ago. Does this decision mean he doesn't really care about protecting poor Nabil? I suppose he hasn't rushed Gerrard or Torres back after injuries either. Oh.
It just makes his previous chit-chat about Purple a load of bollocks, and proves he contradicts himself more often than not. If you protect players by not rushing them back, then do it for everyone. Not just Purple.
Hypocrite.

Is Kelly fit again? I'd like to see him played at left-back as an alternative to Insua. He's played well there on loan.

I am certain he is not in the squad list we submitted in august.
Yes, I'd forgotten about the CL squad list. There I was hoping that something good might have come from a disastrous campaign, that a couple of the kids might impress tonight, stay in the team and bring a breath of fresh air to this sorry, shitty season.

He can play at left back also? Sounds like the new Carragher.

Uninteresting fact. I just came through Liverpool airport at the same time as the Fiorentina team. They were very purple. A few fit footy wives with em.

Yeah, you're so small they would've never noticed.

I was in my whistle. They may have thought I was with the official party. What with my mediterranean looks and all

After reading that article its impossible to guess if Rafa will start Aquilani.
I think he will only play something like 30 minutes.

Yep Aqui will start tomorrow. His purpleness will allow him to play in stealth mode amongst the Viola.
