So er.. the match at the weekend..

I'd like to think that following the Hillsborough revelations the team will be fired up to give the fans a win. Probably not the case, but I'd like to think that anyway.

Irrespective of any of that however, the team desperately need a good performance and 3 points under their belt.

People, I think it's time to analyse photos from today's training.

So, after applying the bib-theory I've determined that we'll start with the following line up.

Reina, Kelly, Skrts, Agger, Glenjo, Shelves, Allen, Gerrard, Borini, Suarez, Sterling

You're welcome.
PS. shhhhhh....don' tell anyone.

oooh I was thinking something like that too

Johnson---Skrtel--Agger---Downing
--------------Allen-----Sahin-------------

----Suarez----Sterling----Gerrard----

I want to see Sterling tried through the middle, doesn't Suarez play a lot for Uruguay on the right of a 3? Gerrard has the sense to play a position for Rodgers and do a decent job.

In the midfield possibly swap Henderson for Sahin and make him the deepest of the 3, I think Sahin looks short of games and needs to be eased in. Henderson can do a half decent Lucas impression and Allen can move up a bit where he can influence the game more.

Fullbacks have been disappointing, I honestly wouldn't care if the senior options were dropped in favour of Flanagan, Robinson, or McLaughlin. I don't fancy Enrique at all and Kelly has been hit and miss.

Sahin and Assaidi to get bench time hopefully.

agreed on all points Mark, particularly the fullbacks and Sahin/Hendo.

Well, I'm afraid I don't agree with quite a lot of that. Too often over the years we've tinkered around with players' positions and it's never worked. Playing Sterling through the middle when he's only ever been a winger; playing Allen further forward when that was never his job at Swansea; playing Stevie on the left when he's only ever been a shadow of himself on that side of the field for England (and unfortunately in the Cup Final against the Chavs last season) - sorry but all of this gets a big fat "No thanks" from me.

Did Sterling not get a go in the centre in one or two of the pre season matches? I know a few on here have question marks over Allens positioning/tracking/marking in the Podolski goal so maybe he shouldn't be the deepest lying or more defensively responsible midfielder, was he that for Swansea? I can't remember now I didn't watch them enough. If we're doing the Rodgers thing in an away match and getting caught on the break like we have then we maybe we need someone to track back with Allen, Shelvey is crap at it, not sure about Sahin either and Gerrard doesn't have the legs.

I hate to say it but Gerrard has been a shadow of himself no matter where he's played. All I can say in support of playing him on the left is that he knows where the goal is, can come inside to shoot or play his give and goes and shouldn't have to cover quite as much ground. I get the feeling he might be the hardest player to coach some patience into because he's so used to carrying the team and forcing things himself. I see a little touch of the Michael Owens in Sterling, the good 18 year old one, not the washed up twat that turned out at old trafford 😀

I don't think there's any harm in tinkering a little.

Henderson would be our best option for a midfielder who will sit back deep, from a defensive perspective anyway. Allen will be fine there against Sunderland though.

Yea I'm glad we kept him, he'll come in handy over the season.

Exciting to think Suso, Shelvey, Sterling could be involved as well as the young lads at fullback and the Yesil guy

Mr Rodgers says that Allen is even better further forward. "he has 50% more"
