Six Nations

I only saw the last 10 mins of that game Rafa. I'm guessing Wales were shit for the first hour ?

There was some great play by Roberts and Byrne in the lead up to the penalty which levelled the game, and you really made the numbers count at the end.

We were awful Rosco. The Scots played well with Parks running the show and if not for a shocking forward pass by Lamont, then the game would of been over and done with. Once again it seemed that we didn't start to play until we got into a situation where in which we simply had to start throwing the ball around. The subs that Gatland made had a huge impact though in fairness, Warburton, Davies and Rees all came on and added something positive to our team play.

I still don't hold out much hope for the France game though unfortunately.

Wales rugby star Andy Powell has been arrested for allegedly taking and driving away a golf buggy, hours after his team's dramatic win over Scotland.

The Cardiff Blues player was arrested with another man at 0600 GMT on Sunday at Cardiff West services off junction 33 of the M4 in the Vale of Glamorgan.

One of the two arrested men failed a breath test, South Wales Police said. But the BBC does not know which of the men this was.

No charges have yet been brought.

A police spokesman confirmed two 28-year-old men from Brecon were arrested and that investigations are ongoing.

He said: "South Wales Police can confirm that two 28-year-old males from the Brecon area were arrested on suspicion of taking and driving away a golf buggy.

"One of those males subsequently failed a breath test."

Powell played in the 31-24 victory in the Six Nations championship.

Location map

It is understood the golf buggy was taken from the Vale Hotel, Golf and Spa Resort, where the Wales team were stayed before and after the Scotland game at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday.

However, a spokesman for the hotel said they could not comment as a police investigation was ongoing.

The Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) has been asked to comment.

Brecon-born rugby flanker Powell, 28, has won 14 caps for Wales and toured with the British Lions squad to South Africa.

The forward plays regional rugby for Cardiff Blues, after joining from the Llanelli Scarlets in 2005. He has also played for Beziers, Leicester and Newport.

Cardiff Blues said it was a matter for the Wales team

The England game is exactly the same as a few years ago, with Italy reducing us down to their level by good forward work and England kicking the ball away at every opportunity.

6-3 down, and going to have to buck their ideas up

6-6 now Squiggs.

The team selection is inconsistent from England, you've got a back row and backline suited to playing a running game and an outhalf who can't play one.

Until you decide what sort of a team you want to be you'll be prone to performances like this, but I still think England will win it in the end.

What a mess. The scoreline says we won but it feels more like a defeat. After the Wales game I had hopes that we were going to be organised and pull together properly this season, but Ross is right. There doesn't seem to be an overarching vision to which the whole England set-up subscribes - either that or the coaches are failing miserably to instil it into the players.

Johnno is building for the WC. Fuck knows what, it isn't a good team. That was a truly awful game.

Wilko not missing for 7 years ans then 3 in a row. France will murder is T this rate.

That was a shame. My views (and those of many others) on his selection for England notwithstanding, Borthwick is a bright, decent guy and a good club rugby player. It's sad to see him put in such a position in the first place.

France were impressive, I thought. You lot were well beaten. Unfortunately you'll now probably take your frustrations out on England...
They were indeed very impressive Bunny. I can't see either Wales or England beating them, so a Grand Slam for France it is imo.
On paper I would have to agree, but the French are uber-nervous when it comes to England and rugby. When was the last time they beat us in a big, important game? They've been overconfident and blown it at the last two World Cups and they regard England as their bogey team the same way we regard Germany as our bogey team in football. France could and should win against a very average England side, but they'll have to overcome some serious mental barriers to do so.

I think England will lose to Ireland and possibly even Scotland before that, btw, so I'm not setting us up as any kind of rugby superpower - just a team with a psychological edge over the French.

If were honest, all we want to see is some southern hemisphere attacking rugby. Dare I say it I'd like Wilko to be dropped. I don't know if he's instructed to, but I can count the times it made it past flutey on one hand. Also, do monyes eyes only look forward? He's rugbys forest gump

Not even the people in the Southern Hemisphere want to see Southern Hemisphere rugby Rouge. Attendances at the Super 14 are falling year on year, and it's not surprising really. It's become almost like tag rugby.

Alright then, flowing rugby and not the lame shit we have to watch at the moment.

On a side note, Flannery has been rightly cited for that ludo boot at the French winger. They reckon it might be a long one.

I'm never clear on the citing rules, I thought if the ref deals with it at the time that's the end of it. Or is that football ?

It's certainly true of football but I must admit I thought the same as you about rugby. Oh well.

Pingu, I disagree about the citing. The foul was hardly hidden, nor was it a dangerous or vicious one like the eye-gougings we've seen punished recently. It was a piece of stupidity which I thought was adequately punished at the time. Citing over and above that seems OTT to me. IMO if Flannery does get a long ban the IRFU should appeal it.

It probably deserves whatever he would have got for a red card, which the foul warranted. It was fucking idiotic, especially when we already had a peno. I like Flannery a lot, but that was stupid beyond words.

He's going to get banned (quite rightly too), hopefully he'll be available from the 14th onwards.

Powell's been dropped from the Welsh squad.

I think we have a good back up for Flannery in Best so it won't hurt the side THAT much.
He'll get a four week ban I'd say and he'll have no grounds to argue either.

Flannery is a much more reliable lineout thrower though, so unless Best is on top form we probably will suffer a bit. Overall though we've got some decent depth at 2. The two Fogartys have been doing well for Munster and Leinster, neither have international experience but have been playing some Heineken Cup rugby. Sean Cronin at Connacht is generally seen as potentially better than those two though and it would be interesting to see him get a run out at some point in an Irish jersey.

I hear there's a fella called Ross something who's not half bad either.

Cheers Ryan, that was good.

Yeah. The interview confirms the persona he has always exuded.

Sign him up as a coaching consultant or something - anything - for LFC. That's the stuff we need in our dressing-room.

What, you mean there's actually some Rugby played? The S14 attendances have fallen significantly in Aus as RU is nowhere near as prevalent nor revered as RL. It's still king in SA & NZ.
In terms of a spectacle, I watched Eng v Italy this week and would have preferred to saw my foot off. Next time you get a chance, watch a RL or S14 game, people pass and run and stuff.

Rugby League is rugby for simpletons (that's why Andy Powell should switch codes). And the problem with Super14 is that it's become almost like league.

Rugby isn't a spectacle, it's a battle. That's the way I like it.
