Signings and the Champions League

You can look at this situation positively, I suppose. We're out of the Champions League and probably won't qualify for it next year. What difference will it make? We'll probably just sign the same players we would have signed anyway. We certainly didn't/couldn't make the most out of being in it this year with regards to attracting players. I don't think we'll be losing out on anyone over it.

Nah. Why is it that you think he is shit?

I'll have you know I told everyone that Le Tallec and Smicer would be worldies.
I just think he is impetuous, makes the wrong decisions often, lacks a football brain at times and doesn't seem to create any calm back there. I take your point about the dross surrounding him, but a good player would make them all better, not contribute to the collective shitness. I just don't see him becoming a Sami or equivalent. Hope I'm wrong.

Not enough to tip the balance.

True, but how far do you go? There's presumably a limit as to what you'd pay for any player, especially given the resentment this may cause amongst the other players, just as you are saying there's a limit to how much money you'd turn down to move to London.

I think when you're getting to the point where you'd be earning what Sanchez is on, if he had his wife's heart set on London, it would be difficult to convince him otherwise without offering something stupid in terms of wages, which would have likely as not ended up being counter-productive anyway.

Just listened to an interview with James Pearce from the Echo about the current situation, and he talked a bit about the signings. He seems to think Lovren, Lallana, and Lambert were all players Rodgers really wanted, which is exactly what I'd have predicted.

I really think he's clueless in the transfer market. Much much worse than Houllier or Rafa ever were. Maybe as bad as Hodgson. Thank god for the committee I say, because at least they ensure we get some sound business done, merely by dint of following a few simple principles. Like not buying PL players at the absolute peak of their value.

I sense sarcasm.

Our biggest problem is - one season back in the CL doesn't make us immediately attractive.

Let's face it - Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd and Man City are pretty much there every year, consistently.

We haven't been over the last 5 years.

We've turned in to Spurs.
