I can't help but feel that this is a great window to buy young talent because it seems that the next generation of stars is beginning to emerge and prices are only going to go up with the World Cup looming. But alas, it's looking increasingly unlikely that we'll be able to get a 'marquee' signing in before the window 'slams shut' - though of course that may change - so can we at 6CM think of any cheaper stop-gap solutions...

I'd consider asking Barcelona for Tello on loan. I'm not sure whether they'd let him go and he did come on as a sub against Levante but who knows. He's by no means the finished article but he'd offer tons of pace, an eye for goal, versatility and an existing understanding of how to play in a fast and fluid attack.

Anyone else?

Jeremy Menez and Mamadou Sakho both from PSG, both ousted from the first team by big-name signings.

Long shot, but any chance Spurs will give us Holtby on loan now they appear to be signing any attacking player they can get their hands on

Would Manure ever sell him to us? I doubt it ..

Nope.

But I still like him. When he plays regularly, he's a super talent.

He's not gonna get regular games at United so will inevitably end up somewhere. It'd be nice if it was us.

Are there any Kolo-esque signings up front? Someone with top experience but still hungry to prove something? We'd be better off with that than paying a massive fee for some hopeful.

He's a super talent, I concur, but I think he's likely to do better for teams that don't try and dominate possession wise ... He'd be brilliant for City, Chelsea or Spurs imo ... Not so much for us or Arsenal.

Why did he fall out of favour with Ferguson? He looked like he was just starting to make the most of his potential and then he was in and out the team. Too much of a flair player?

By that logic he'd be great for Utd!

Also City dominate possession like motherfuckers.

He seems like a cunt and he'd probably want a bajillion a week in wages. He is a very decent player, but there must be a reason he has never been a first team regular at United.

Ferguson spoke heaps of times about his unwillingness to defend. He only really runs one way to be honest.

And I seem to remember him being pissed off about not playing regularly and Ferguson taking the hump with his attitude.

He would be ... but they don't play him, and cannot accommodate his desire to only play in one half of the pitch.

I guess I'm thinking more of Mancini's City.

Prying Nani from Man U is as pipe dream as they come. But a hungry and motivated Nani who can be arsed to press is a world-beater. We can only imagine.

So who's our scouts in South America and eastern Europe? If we want bargains surely thats where we need to be looking? So let's here names of internationally capped players that would relish a chance to play for us. Dutch and Portuguese side do it really well. I would not mind tom ince.

not short term but apparently we're going after that derby albino kid for 6 mill, if we managed to sign him i honestly think he'd be a first teamer by the end of the season, or at least capable of being one. The links from the metro though and i dont see how he'd be that cheap.

Will Hughes. Now that's the kind of homegrown talent we should be snapping up at £6M, instead of an Ince at £8M.
