Did he fuck. We didn't even bid for him.
that's cos the club had lost its soul and we needed more english players.

I don't know who is being sarcastic and who is being serious anymore....

So i'm not letting it stop me from a good old rant...

How the fuck do we know Downing was the ONLY player who didn't mind us being in the Champions League?

And you know that because.......?

We didn't bid for Mata. Kenny chose English instead, hence why we're so average.

Which top clubs were in for the players that we bought? None.
I take it we bought Coates on the basis of his Scottish heritage then!

To be fair, most clubs chose English because of the fears caused by these new squad restrictions. Hence the reason why Utd signed Jones and Young

No we bought Coates because Phil Jones decided to join the Mancs.

And we bought Downing because Mata knocked us back,
See how easy it is for an opinion to be delivered as a statement!

I thought we bough Henderson because phil Jones decided to join the mancs.

Is Shaqiri that good? I can't say I've really noticed him.

If he's available for under 10M and considered one of Europe's hottest properties, why has been left to ply his trade in Basel for so long whilst seemingly every other player with a reputation under the age of 21 tends to get signed up?

Everytime I've seen him he's looked very good.

That's a bit unfair, though, Keni, he's only really emerged as a top prospect in the last 12-18 months. Hazard has been playing and looking like a great prospect for Lille for a good few years, and it's only until relatively recently that he's come under any real interest from bigger clubs.

Galatasaray have pulled the plug on this one.
Any reason why?

Apparently Basle wanted too much money (€ 15 million).
sounds like the market value for a rising star in the current market.
If he was English he would be valued at double that.

Ive seen him about 4 times and each time hes impressed.

To be fair though the whole team has looked good each tinme ive seen Basle

I'd never heard of him before this season. It seems a couple of good games against Utd have made him in vogue. Expect him to disappear off the radar again soon.

Nah people were talking him up before those games.

Shaqiri alongside Martinez and Mata were the most impressive players under the European U21 Championship last Summer.

The fact he's kept on improving ever since highlighted by his performances against United makes him on the most sought after young players out there.

The Downing comparison is at best weird. He's a little, albeit strong and balanced winger-type, much more in the Sanchez-mould if you have to liken him to someone.
Don't know about that K.
I didn't watch that much of the competition but I though Shaqiri did little outstanding in what I saw of him, and I was looking out for him.
Pretty much four or five of the Spaniards were the standout players of the tornament with Herrera, Alcantara and Munian all looking better than Shaqiri.
