Report: Liverpool Target Juventus Star Sebastian Giovinco
Reds boss Rafael Benitez has reportedly enquired after the ‘Atomic Ant’…
Nov 19, 2009 9:29:07 AM

According to a report in the Corriere dello Sport, Premier League giants Liverpool are mulling over a bid to lure out-of-favour Juventus 'fantasista' Sebastian Giovinco to Anfield.

The diminutive hitman has only mustered six league appearances so far this term and has slipped further down the pecking order, after the arrival of Brazilian ace Diego over the summer.

The 22-year-old has been frequently linked with a move away from the Stadio Olimpico to boost his chances of proving his worth to Italy boss Marcello Lippi ahead of next year’s World Cup finals.

Premier League sides Arsenal and West Ham have allegedly sounded out Juve directors over his availability, but Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is now believed to have joined the hunt and could make an offer to secure his services during the January transfer window.

Giovinco would link up with fellow Italians Andrea Dossena and Alberto Aquilani on Merseyside, with the latter only making his Premier League debut earlier this month after completing a €20 million move from Roma last summer.

If Diego's arrival caused him slipping down the pecking order at Juve I guess this means he'd play in Stevie's role. He won't be good enough for this and we don't need an attacking midfielder right now.

So it's 'no, thanks' for me.

Pure speculation. We have no money to spend, and yet we still get linked with every footballer not currently playing first team football.

Of course it's speculation, it's what internet fora are built on.
A regards having no money, I really hope to Christ the Americans are not as thick as some give them credit for.
If we need to at least attempt to get out of this croc of shite, and we need to buy ourselves out of it, even the densest of individuals would see that the alternative is too dire not to do so, would have a catastrophic effect on the short term and longer term value their investment/asset .
I wouldn't know this lad if I fell over him, I don't watch much foreign football BTW

regards

You might well fall over him if he's *that* small.

Giovinco, a FM star!
[/quote]

It really irks me when people judge footy players because of their ability on FM.

Everybody knows that Prov Evo is the game to really judge their ability. Giovinco is tiny, speedy and ace in PES.

He's even tinier than Spearing I reckon.

Very true, he's the smallest man in the Juve team (he's about 5'4" or 5'5" tall). Might be quite difficult (but not impossible) for him to play in England. However, he is a very good player and I don't think Juventus will be considering letting him go though. He's a player they value quite highly.

He's been a starter for the past 5-6 weeks.

He's being played on the left-hand-side of the 3 man midfield in the 4-2-3-1 formation they've been playing recently.

If there is ever a player that we couldn't go after because of the situation we are in its him. He is a luxury hope you strike gold kind of buy. We can't afford another failure.
