So assuming he will sign for 7mil in the next couple of days, that will leave us with Carra, Agger, Skrtel and Coates...
..and also assuming that Agger will get injured somewhere in November until February, we also need to sign another centre back..i hope we sign Scott Dann or Cahill in January.

Plus Kelly, who, everyone keeps forgetting, is a CB.
Until we ship him out on loan Wilson too for that matter.

I don't see Kelly playing in the middle any time soon mate. I don't think he's ready for it just yet.
Perhaps play him there in a 3 but not in a 2. In my view anyway.

Just how many Centre-Backs do you think a team needs?
If we get this done, then that should be it. We are well covered for injuries and we have depth in quality. Kelly is good enough to be 3rd replacement to our prime pair. You don't build a squad by preparing for a Scenario where more than 3 players for the same position is injured at the same time. Stop being paranoid.

Not really about numbers...it's more about having proven/experienced players. For example if we signed, say Cahill or Shawcross...we know they're Premier League proven...whereas this lad isn't...furthermore he's only 20. Still a youngster.
That's not to say every player has to be experienced and have Premier League experience but i personally think it's a risk.
Well considering, it's a position where we have Carra's who is undoubtedly a legend and still our best defender but he's nearly 34, Agger is quality but injury prone and Skrtel who i do rate but isn't always Mr Reliable. Hope that makes sense. 🙂
