what i really like about this deal is that it signifies kennys willingness to buy non-british, i was concerned that we would be too idealistic about sigining brits, but where there is a talent we are willing to go for them irrespective of their nationality. good stuff.
Or possibly we've spent all our money on British talent and can no longer afford the inflated fees.
good point! regardless, its good to see.

Suarez (Torres) was only 23 and not Premiership proven

This is a lad, who's 20 and has played nearly 50 times for the best national side in South America and often in place of the more experienced Godin. The lad has immense potential and, although I've only watched him a few times, he's been very assured and noticeable. I really hope we sign him.

the bolton chairman must be shitting bricks.

one week to go and not a single bid for cahill.
I wouldn't mind if we bought both. But I think we should pull an italian job on Bolton.
Would it be fair to sell Skrts?
Is Coates gonna be thrown in at the deep end when he joins?

Rumours flying around that he doesn't have a Spanish passport. Might make it difficult to sign him.
He does have Scottish ancestry though, there could be a loop-hole.

I'm begining to think we were never in for dann or cahil. we bid for jones (a prospect) and we've bid for coates (a prospect). maybe we feel carra, agger and skrtel is enough until the prospect is ready.

he was the young player of the copa america, I think we can get a visa on the grounds of him being an exceptional talent.

You can choose to believe me or not, but I guarantee you. Cast iron guarantee, that we've spoken to Birmingham about Dann.

Unless Fergie denies it and claims that there are plenty of good CB's available in England.

Surely you could get him on an exceptional talent work permit if you got player of the tournament which contains the likes of Argentina and Brazil!?

rorysmith_tel: This is what makes @MartinCharquero my favourite Uruguayan: Coates trained normally today and has spoken to Suarez on the phone. #LFC

Plan as it stands at #lfc: place official bid for Coates tomorrow and look to complete signing on Thursday so long as problems sorted. no idea what the problems are but apparently it's not been straight forward. Also, #lfc may bring in one other player. No idea who.

This lad HAS to be a top defender. I mean Red Coates - what more do you need ? Thin Red Line and all that. Plus it was the 93rd Highland Regiment and Coates is a Scottish surname. I rest my case m'lud.

he's played in 75% of Uruguay's games in the last few years (50+ caps no?) ... that will be fine for a visa!

According to Wikipedia, he has played 5 times for Uruguay. The rest of the post is spot on IMO.
