Poor old Neil's head has taken a hell of a lot of knocks over the years, from Shearer's boot to a pound coin, with many smacks, punches and missiles in between.

At least Shearer gave him a friendly pat after it.

At the time I resented Shearer over that, fucking England golden boy getting preferential treatment with one of the worst legal defences for assault I've ever heard. Then as the years pass, and you learn more about the victim, then you realise that no, actually he's a god damn geordie legend for (a) doing it and (b) getting away with it.
