Allardyce: Backing for Hodgson

Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce believes his Liverpool counterpart Roy Hodgson deserves time to address the Reds' on-field ills.

The Merseysiders are in turmoil on the pitch, claiming just six points from their first eight games to lie second-bottom of the Premier League at the start of the weekend's fixtures, with Rovers next up at Anfield on Sunday.
They have also finally completed a protracted change of ownership and Allardyce insists Hodgson cannot be blamed for all Liverpool's failings so far this season.
"I always thought this would be a year of transition for a club that has sold off a lot of its players and Roy has a huge task, but I didn't think they would have as few points as they have at the moment," said the Blackburn manager.
"All the pressure of the takeover and the money situation has obviously affected the team.
"There's a healthy atmosphere in a football club that you can feel that there's something great and it's building, and there's the opposite which has created a knock to that normal Liverpool feeling.
"It's one of the institutions of football made great by the late, great Bill Shankly and that has declined now, the feeling has been lost and it's a great shame, and that's what they must grasp back.
"It's not just down to Roy Hodgson, it's the structure of the club as a whole, building the atmosphere back.
"I feel for Roy, he seems to be bearing the brunt of the blame. If he gets enough time he will get it right."
Blackburn have takeover uncertainties themselves but Allardyce hopes these will soon be resolved and will tell his players not miss their chance to get a result at Liverpool.
Allardyce said: "It's a good time to be playing them even though they have got new owners which will dampen down all the off-the-field distractions the players have had.
"But at the moment Liverpool are below us and it's the first time in many, many years of managing in the Barclays Premier League where I have gone there when they have been below my team.
"We have to take advantage of any lack of confidence that the Liverpool players may have."
A number of parties have expressed interest in a takeover of Blackburn but it appears an Indian conglomerate, the VH Group, have pushed ahead and could finalise a deal within weeks.

This alone makes me want to get rid ASAP. Now our manager is in the big sam and whisky nose appreciation society! I hate this....

I hate Budgie, and his fucking old-school managerial cunt mates like fucking Allardici, Baconface and that other bent, melted faced cunt Redknapp

Parochial fucking wankers - I hate their patronising mafia ways. They can all fuck off and the fact that Hodgson is all buddy-buddy with them really winds me up.

to be fair to Big Sam evrything's all about fucking perception in football management. peception is beyond the pale.

oh, and according to the four fuckwits on soccer saturday, the old cunt needs plenty of time to clear up that incompetent benitez's 'mess'. time is everything in management - it took ged houllier a full 6 years to win the champions league with liverpool, let's not forget.

We're only perceived to be 19th in the league, everything is great really.

Cheers Sam.

when why is last season people were saying with the quality of squad rafa has he should be challenging?

the bottom line is a squad that contains

torres
gerrard
reina
carra
johnson
cole
kuyt
etc

should not be in 18th position. THE END.

you know you're right when morons like merson and nicholas disagree with you - and other fuckwits like them.

We have no chance against Sam 'the future' Allardyce.

He'll have some shit software developed for a Commodore 64 which sets out which players to pick and what teamtalk to give.

and wasn't hodgson supposed to be able to get the most out of limited resources? if he can't then what the fuck is he doing here? if this is about splashing cash to compete there are far more worthy candidates to splash that cash than roy fucking hodgson.

One good striker, no centrebacks with aerial ability, one fullback that can defend (who came from the youth system), no wingers .... and all for only 250 odd million.

I agree.

the squad was still very poorly put together

Benitez did leave a mess of a squad.

As I recall, we were supposedly underperforming because Benitez, while tactically astute was a poor man-manager. With an "arm round the shoulder" our players would perform better and we'd reach our true potential. Whoops!

Of course it shouldn't, but we have a squad of extremes.

N'gog
Lucas
Poulsen
Maxi
Babel
Aurelio
Konchesky
(Insua)

A side containing these players on a regular basis could quite easily find themselves relegated.

if Rafa left a mess of a squad what did Houllier leave?

And Hodgson has signed loads of players and had a whole summer to do what he wants

and yet easily one of the best defensive records in the league... I guess there must have been something to that zonal system after all...

Why can't they both leave a mess of a squad, Rebel?

Yes, Hodgson had the summer, but he was new and had little money to spend. This is far from Hodgson's team, but he's trying to force it to play his system, which is largely why we're in this mess.

The best defence we've had for about 20 years, a couple of excellent midfielders and one of Liverpool's best ever goalscorers.

Our squad is disgraceful considering the amount of cash we have spent. Unfortunately we also have a clueless manager and have lacked any sort of team spirit. We deserve to be where we are and will remain there until the manager is replaced or the players start to work together, or hopefully both.

Joe Cole Free Transfer Free 21.07.2010
Danny Wilson Rangers £2,000,000* 21.07.2010 Can raise to 5 Million depending on apperances.
Fábio Aurélio Free Transfer Free 31.07.2010
Christian Poulsen Juventus £4,550,000* 11.08.2010 Can raise to 5.5 Million depending on achievements
Brad Jones Middlesbrough £2,300,000 18.08.2010
Raul Meireles Porto £11,500,000 29.08.2010
Paul Konchesky Fulham £3,500,000* 31.08.2010 Liverpool paid 3,5 million pounds for Konchesky + transferring Lauri Dalla Valle and Alex Kacaniklic to Fulham as part of the deal worth a combined fee of 1,5 million pounds.
Roy Hodgson bought 7 players for £23,850,000 or 27,850,000 and Lauri Dalla Valle and Alex Kacaniklic

I think you'll notice that as time went on and Benitez got to change the squad, and the coaching staff, we got progressively worse defensively. To the point now where we are shit at the back.

As I have previously said, When Brian Clough and Peter Taylor had there dissagreement, Cloughs fortunes took a dip, I honestly believe we was a stronger unit before Rafa and (oh fuck old timers disease, who was the 'king of the hill' Rafa had for 2nd in command?) anyway after he had left we also took a nose dive, maybe Rafa needed someone strong to say 'hold on a mo' thats no good?'

4 million pounds difference, yet the figures quoted is 1.5 million?? I don't get it.
[/quote]

read Poulson and Wilson fully, they have 1 million and 3 million clauses, the 1.5 Million isn't added on, because it wasn't cash, but the players was supposed to be worth 1.5 between them.

those players are full internationals and should canter to the middle of the table, the fact the team is flirting with relagation reflects badly on hodgson rather than rafa. we were beaten and outplayed by blackpool and northampton at home. so what is the excuse for that when said mentioned teams have a worse squad?

benitez was given a net investment of £37m to leave these players, plus:

poulsen £4.5m
meireles £11.5m
konchesky £5m

that's £58m invested in the squad since 2004. no wonder it's not CL quality.
