He’s not getting sold. Fucking hell, calm down.

Had this transfer window gone to plan then it may have opened up the possibility, but there is simply no chance this late into the window.

We will likely make a verbal agreement to Salah that we will sell him to Saudi in 12 months. FWIW, he still seems very happy here, so I can't see a Coutinho situation developing.

Salah leaving could be good, but the reason he isn't convinced to stay is that we've not shown any interest in transforming the team so that he's particularly likely to win anything that would raise his profile or get his rocks off.

We have to pitch how we are clearly going in the right direction to someone else. Does klopps "we will give it a proper try, except at the till" work?

I think the best we can do is be a destination for players on the rise. That's fine. But then do it. Invest in scouts more and known talent less. I don't really see much coherent strategy when we are being reactive, and this would fall into that same category.

If we don't already have a list of Salah replacements for this eventuality then we are already fucked. And, a bit more investment in the last three years and no chance Salah leaves. Wed have scraped the cl. It's not even more investment, it's just timely.
All valid points. I was surprised to hear that we have a chief of scouts, Barry Hunter or is it Dave Fallows? What do they actually do?

After seemingly being blindsided by the offers for and then departures of Henderson and Fabinho— apart from not have been prepared to replace them or at least one of them even after last season— how could we be still stunned by an approach for Salah?

Saudi tv reporting it the day before we play a Saudi funded club AND Tribalfootball.

Inevitable indeed…

Don't be so sure, Hansern. Klopp isn't, so I don't know how you can be. Let's be honest, these owners would definitely consider letting him go. They probably wouldn't replace him either.

I actually don't think he will go this season, but I'm far from certain. And the noises coming out from the club are worrying.

The noises coming from the club are that he isnt for sale. Klopp said the same on Friday. His agent the same a couple of weeks ago.

Its not happening at this stage of the transfer window. Next summer - yes, but not now.

Money talks.

I agree with you, he shouldn't be for sale unless a silly offer comes in.

Unfortunately our definitions of silly offer may differ from John Henry et al. Who seem to be living in 2013 prices.

Yeah... the official statements. Sometimes those things are different to what's really going on.

Bear in mind my best mate's job is literally to interview people at the club, including Klopp, and sometimes things are said off the record. Maybe something was said off the record the other day.

If you catch my drift...

We weren't. We would have been expecting an approach from the moment the Saudis started their shopping spree. And have plans in place. Anyone suggesting we didn't / don't is being naive.

What those plans are is anyone's guess however!

111 mill for Caicedo is more 2023 then 2013, though..

Seems unlikely now but if we're in 10th in December and looking like wasting a great summer because our owners and senior leadership are fucking living in lala land, he may go then or the summer. I just hope we have a plan to replace him.

if salah is sold, we still have enough fire power to finish teams but it allows us to buy CBs and Defenders. I think FSG are using the administration of the construction firm to say to Klopp that money has to divested, and any more purchases has to be made from sales.
I would rather we switch to a 4-4-2 or even 4-5-1 which will leave our right-side less exposed

There will be a plan to replace him next summer

Move Gakpo to the right, put Nunez upfront. Problem solved, everyone's happy and we finish 8th.

Seriously though, we can't sell Salah without replacing him and there's not a lot of options out there.

We sell Salah, We get a quality DM, and CB, Use the players we have up front, we will become a more solid team,.
Yes we will miss Salah's Goals and assissts, but hopelfully be cost of those changes to DM&CB we will leak less goal and hopefully we will sign the next Salah,Suarez,Torres, Fowler etc

Just amazing that people come back to the same thought process. We don't need to sell Salah to sign a DM or CB. We need to win 1 or 2 trophies this season. That is what we could sell to next Mbappe/Haaland/Salah/Mane in the next summer. I am not saying we are dependent on Salah completely and that is why we cant sell him. Top teams competing for big trophies are mostly spoiled with choices. When we had Firmino, Mane and Salah, we always talked about one more quality option. There we have those options now. We need to mould Diaz/Jota/Gakpo into next big thing during this season and then we can start thinking of selling Salah.

To be honest, at the moment with the current level of investment and team structure; selling salah is akin to selling countinho. Borderline unthinkable, BUT could help us.

We didn't invest when we won trophies, we didn't invest when we were on a high. We're not going to suddenly invest outside of player sales now

How did we get from 111m for Caicedo, to 16m for Endo and nobody else? How do we keep our ambitious players? Mind boggling.

From what I have seen from the first 3 rounds of matches, the injuries are not abating. In fact, the suspensions from trigger happy refs are going to increase. The added injury time averages 8-10 mins a half. Our squad is thin bare.

At this rate, we will be talking about playing Nat in Oct, if not earlier.
Phillip’s playing would be the silver lining for me.

When we won the Title/CL/CWC that was the time to invest and attract the likes of the next Mbappe/Haaland/Salah/Mane... We didn't... Even this summer we could have bought Bellingham, and he wanted to come... We didn't... Why FSG policy
Without selling Salah we have very little chance of getting the players we new..
Coutinho money helped with getting Salah, Allison etc
